Evan Bigley
Currently an outfielder for New Britain. Drafted by the Twins in the 08 Amateur Draft in the 10th Round.
Age: 25
Bats: Right
Throws: Right
Height: 6' 1"
Weight: 200 lb
3 years of minor league service time. He has has a career .273 batting average in the minors. Off to a good start this season with New Britain batting .314. A below average defensive player might eventually make the move to first base. Was drafted because of his raw Home Run potential but strikes out a lot. Power numbers have yet to show up in the minors (hit only 7 homers last year and struck out 108 times).

In Fort Myers at spring training I heard teammates calling him by the nickname Squiggley. Don't know if the name has stuck. Anyway, an important item to add to the Bigley Database.

After starting the season batting .314. Bigley's average has dropped to .221 with only 4 home runs and 52 strikeouts in 190 at bats. He is batting only .135 in his last 10 games and has moved down to 7th in the batting order in New Britain. On the bright side, the Rock Cats are still in first place!

Not much to write about in the Evan Bigley blog. Since my last post, he has been batting .333 with 3 home runs to raise that average to .243 overall. He has a team leading 60 strikeouts in 222 at bats.

Evan, along with Angel Morales, are 2 players who prove you pretty much have to ignore ETown stats. Both showed immense power potential there , then both have been average minor leagers.

The kid can hit! At least for the last 10 days or so...and especially during the Rock Cats winning streak, Bigley has been on fire. He is batting .450/3 homers/13 rbi in his last 10 games. 12 of those 13 rbis have come in the last 5 games! He's up to .268 now. Lets hope he can keep it going.

one of the hottest hitters in the organization.
Since June 1..34gm .333/.371/.568 21runs 11doubles 1 triple 7hr 32rbi 27k 6bb
may be bumped out of an OF spot w/Joe Benson back this weekend & unfortunately is blocked by Clete Thomas in ROC (ha ha)
Overall 82gm .267/.311/447 38 runs 19 doubles 3triples 11hr 62rbi (leads Eastern Lg in RBI) 19k 82bb
Interesting to see what they do with Bigley as he has played 243 AAgms but dont always treat their own players with respect
Got 2 more yrs before 6yr FA, so he has ROC written all over him, why not nowLast edited by greengoblinrulz; 07-09-2012 at 10:58 PM.

It hasn't been publicized on the Red Wings' website yet, but Bigley has been promoted to AAA. He's @bigley3 on Twitter, and there was mention of it this morning.
Congrats to him!Andrew Walter

he now has a weak .229 average in Rochester. However, in the last week and a half he hit his first two homers in Rochester. In 21 games he has 22 strikeouts.

Examining Oswaldo Arcia's recent struggles
Figuring hitters out, a baseball lifer told me recently, is like trying to untangle a giant knot. At first you just try to attack it in the easiest manner possible. If that does not work, you pick...
