Matt Maloney strikes out the side in the top of the 8th. Not a bad way to debut with a new organization. I'm guessing Mr. Krivsky has a big smile right about now.

Initial thoughts on Provus? Very smooth for ST game 1 Gladden seemed to really be in the background the first few innings

Chris Herrmann with an RBI single, scoring Nishioka from third, giving the Twins a 7-2 lead. Herrmann is good!

Provus has said a couple of times that the two players who have shown the most improvement with the bat from last year are Valencia and Nishioka.

I love that Gladden is warning us not to get to excited about Nishioka. Don't worry Dan.

I think it's OK to be hopefully that Nishioka can be a representative utility infielder and hold his own defensively and offensively. Last year, he did neither. I'm willing to give him a little benefit of the doubt... at this point.

John - Thanks for adjusting the time-out setting.
Seth - I think Provus said early in the broadcast that he asked Vavra if anyone stood out to him in terms have having worked at improving their hitting in the offseason and he mentioned two guys, Valencia and Nishioka, as being much improved. I hope he's right on both counts.I post regularly on our Knuckleballs blog (http://knuckleballsblog.com/)
