Hard to tell what the best offer is. Actually in most cases you have to wait a few years. We all thought that the Bullock for Diamond trade was a bust last season, but this season is different.
What I am talking about is more a matter of principle: You don't help division opponents and you don't trade within your division no matter what. Now the Twins have traded with everyone but the Royals in the division within the last calendar year.

Nobody can ruin the Twins season. Ryan and Gardy and Co took care of that
I would hope that any gm would take the best offer if he doesn't he's hurting his own team. If you look at trades afraid it will hurt you more than help you it shouldn't be made. If Ryan didn't take the best offer he should be fired.

I really see the Twins keeping Willingham, and they (in my opinion) really shouldn't even think about trading him until the deadline next year.

Blackburn???? How much would we have to pay for somebody to take him?
I don't see how trading in the division is even a factor at this time of year when he is a free agent after the season. Do people really think he could come back to ruin our season?

5.7 k/9 this year in the minors. It's good that he is still fairly young.

I have seen on MLBTR that the Cards and the Orioles are the ones going the hardest after Liriano.

Good catch with the August/July thing... I corrected it.
Garza plays for the Cubs (unless he got traded)

The point is, that, unlike Liriano, the Twins do not have to trade Willingham or Span or even Morneau, so they are waiting for a team to really give lots back. Makes sense.

I would think that the Cubs would want prospects and they would not be scouting the Sux MLB team. Unless they maybe scouting someone like Casilla or Fien or Swarzak or something along those lines from the Twins

I saw once on MLBTR that one GM said, "They asked for established pitching, established hitting, and a few good prospects to top it off (or something along those lines)." That, I would imagine, would be the kind of offer the Twins might be expecting to have in hand if they trade Willingham, who was labeled "so pricey, it made me laugh.

Could be the White Sox are looking at Garza and the Cubs are scouting the Sox. Unless of course the Twins may want to bring Garza back home, seems likely doesn't it? I bet you'll see a bunch of scouts at nearly every game this time of year.

A lot of stuff going on and players moving around the last few days. I'm starting to think Ryan will overplay his hand the only deals done will be minor like maybe Carroll. With his age and contract that may make it a salary dump with a real low prospect coming back. Really my question is are they ready to rebuild or are they still thinking after over 1 1/2 in last place that this isn't a bad team, just an unlucky one. I just don't see a solid plan on what to do next.

Teams are saying the Twins want too much in return because they are used to dealing with Bill "Creampuff" Smith.

Storen is back--set up for now--a couple of mediocre appearances so far.

I think that a lot of what he is asking for depends on the team that asks.

    1) ditto
    2) that too
    3) ditto
    4) it was having the high picks plus several supplemental picks this year
    5) Exactly
    6) Both he and Jones were drafted this year
    7) If they do not get rid of him they will have to carry him with the big team next year. If they get anything for him or an improved offer if add him to a deal, that is a bonus. See: addition by subtraction plus a younger non-prospect for the minors.

    1) with all the injuries in his career, I really can't see anyone picking up Pavano in the offseason
    2) You didn't mention that Vargas hit a HR in his second AB as well
    3) I like Mastro, and when paired with Span and Revere make one fast-as-he^l outfield
    4) With the new rules for bonuses this year, it was a lot more likely that they sign more people with higher bonuses.
    5) If we could get that kid from the Angels for Liriano, hopefully that would be dope for us.
    6) Melotakis is doing really well, wasn't he just drafted this year?
    7) Not sure how adding Manship to a deal helps or hurts the Twins

Don't see why Ryan wouldn't want a big-leaguer for Morneau (hope to god that he is talking about a big-league pitcher), because when he is even as healthy as he has been this season he would be a dangerous bat to have in the lineup, a fairly good fielder, and a solid clubhouse personality, and despite the injuries is a "proven veteran hitter" (again, relative term).

Is Storen back? I thought he was out for the season. Alex Meyer would be nice but not sure that the Nats will let him go.
