To leave Hicks in the minors for a couple of months seems to make sense.
I like Benson, but he does not have the ceiling of a Hicks (defensively speaking) or Arcia (offensively speaking).
If he can cut it, he is the perfect player to have as the CF or 4th outfielder to start the season.

I really like Benson. I think he could be serviceable this year. I actually would rather see him start in CF, than Mastro...but Darin could change my mind with a good spring.

If Hunter and Hicks both seem like late bloomers, why doesn't anyone give Benson more of a chance? He's very toolsy and is coming off an injury riddled season.

    and Arcia hit:
    .352/.420/.704 (1.124 OPS)
Last year in AA Acia hit:
.328/.398/..557 as the youngest member of the Rock Cats.

I have high hopes for Sano, but Arcia is the guy I am really excited about.

Very nice Old Goat. Yeah, concerns surround Sano's high K totals and he still hasn't hit .300 at any level above the GCL. Their GCL stats are similar, and they were both 17 in that league. But beyond their GCL stats, Arcia has been a true high-average-hitter, while Sano has been a true power-guy.

Obviously, we will all be glued to milb.com's boxscores to see if Sano can hit around .290 next year in a tough FSL. Just a myriad of interesting players to follow in the Twins org.

He looks like an All-Star caliber RF. I think he will stick in RF, while the other guys (Roberts, Benson, Mastroianni, eventually Kepler and Buxton) fight over LF and Hicks takes over CF. He makes some very exciting plays with his arm, and I think he stays in RF where he can loose his cannon more often.

Nice work! I like Arcia. I could see him rounding into a Andre Ethier type. .280/.360/.500 with more doubles than home runs, but 20-25 home runs consistently and 30 home runs always a possibility. He might be more of a left fielder, especially with the outfield arms the Twins have in the system, but his defense is not why he is an exciting player anyway.

Also I think "The Blizzard of Oz" could really catch on.

Completely agree Old Goat. This was the positive end of the Sano spectrum.
I was pretty negative in my top-20-post-2013 list of prospects. But Sano is on another level, and could force a big league debut in 2014. But 2015 to start the year is a good bet. If he needs to go to AAA in 2015, then he isn't Five-Star, in my opinion.

Stay tuned for Ozzie's blog gush...

Of course I wish the very best for Sano and the Twins. I know he was the youngest player on the team.
Still, there seems a long bridge between hitting .258 in low A ball and being a star in MLB. Hope that all comes to pass.
And as for my own 'over exuberance', I still think Arcia is the real deal.

    Hope they both become super-stars.

Maybe a sequel is in the works?...but there is hardly any footage from his monster 2012 season on youtube. I have found about three home-run videos as a Beloit Snapper (~10% of his HR's)

I can feel the love for Eddie. May he travel his Rosa Rio quickly...and divert his waters to Target Field

Rosario is the best. A Jack of all trades!

Arcia is very promising, and he should already be in Minnesota when Sano and Rosario arrive together. Can't wait. Should be a nice influx
  19. Oldgoat_MN's Avatar
I am the most optimistic about Arcia & Rosario, in that order.
Of course, I sure hope Sano winds up being all he's hyped up to be.
