I hope you enjoyed watching the HR Derby. And by that I really mean, “I hope you enjoyed imaging what next year’s Home Run Derby is going to be like”. The best part about it being at Target Field next year is that you, well, don't have to hear anyone saying "back...back...back...back".
The Twins are obviously off for the All-Star Break.
ROCHESTER RED WINGS – off for AAA All-Star Break
NEW BRITAIN ROCK CATS 2, HARRISBURG SENATORS 3 (10 INNINGS)
Trade Deadline Overview: San Francisco Giants
Buyers or Sellers
The Giants have won two of the last three World Series, but now find themselves with one of the worst records in the National League and nearly ten games out in the Wild Card Race. Sellers, right? Not so fast.
Playing in the National League West, the Giants are only a handful of games out in the division race. Though they do trail the Diamondbacks, Dodgers and Rockies, the silver-lining is that the
Yesterday we took a look at four Twins who will have minimal value on the trade market. Today we’re going to look at the three who probably have the most value (if they’re made available… and no, Joe Mauer isn’t available).
We’re going to skip Ryan Doumit and most of the bullpen. Personally, I feel like there are tradable assets there, so I maybe I’ll revisit that in the future.
I think people are holding
Earlier today I asked Twitter followers (or others) to tell me who they think the Twins will or should trade. I figured I could come up with some hypotheticals and the readers at TwinsDaily could weigh in on the different proposals. I’m not suggesting these are all trades I would make from the Twins perspective, but are something I would consider at least relatively fair (and that make sense) from both clubs’ views.
I immediately got a lot of suggestions: Justin Morneau, Kevin Correia,
Like every other team in the MLB, the Twins have spent countless hours preparing for "J2" or the International Free Agency period that begins July 2nd. With a spending pool that was the fourth-largest in MLB, the Twins were aggressive early inking two players from the Dominican the first day they were eligible to sign.
TwinsDaily learned that another player they were interested in, Dutch 3B Ruar Verkerk, signed shortly thereafter. We had a chance to exchange some questions with the
Monday morning got out to a quick - and good - start when Baseball America released their mid-season Top 50.
Byron Buxton was ranked the #1 prospect in all of baseball.
No. 1 talent in last year’s draft is even better than expected with power, speed, defense and an extremely advanced hitting approach
Miguel Sano, despite being in a little bit of a funk, checked in only two spots later at #3.
Best power in the minors, one of the best arms. Hitting ability has
Back to write-up for tonight:
ROCHESTER RED WINGS 3, PAWTUCKET RED SOX 2 (10 innings)
Another night with very little offense, but, more importantly, another win for the Red Wings. Tonight's win was their 5th consecutive and, impressively, gets them over .500 on the season.
I remember there being lots of panic and disappointment when they started the season 2-11. People questioning why Rochester re-upped with the Twins. People saying

As it is every July 2nd, teams begin to announce deals with "International Free Agents". This year is no different and the Twins made an early splash, signing Dominican 1B/OF Lewin Diaz as well as four others, according to Doogie Wolfson.
Diaz actually played in the Under Armour All-American Game at Wrigley Field last August, going 1-for-3 against many players who are older and were drafted in last month's draft. As the DH,
The story on the farm today was... RAIN. Rainouts, specifically.
ROCHESTER RED WINGS, NEW BRITAIN ROCK CATS, FORT MYERS MIRACLE and GCL TWINS were all postponed.
CEDAR RAPIDS KERNELS 6, PEORIA CHIEFS 3
Mike Pelfrey packed his family up in the Cities yesterday and made the trek down to Cedar Rapids for a rehab start today. In six frames, he allowed two runs (one home run) and struck out six. He reportedly
Merry Gibsmas! Kyle Gibson made his Major League debut this afternoon in front of a nearly-packed house. If you're waiting to get home to watch Gibson's start on DVR, I won't ruin it for you.
ROCHESTER RED WINGS 0, SYRACUSE CHIEFS 1
Offensively, the Red Wings just didn't get it done. Doug Bernier and Jeff Clement both doubled and, throw in a Bernier single, that's all the hits they accounted for today.
Aaron Hicks struck out twice in an 0-for-4
The Twins are off today. They're in Miami, trick. But there was plenty going on in the minor leagues with both games and transactions. The transactions are all noted below, but essentially the promotion of Kyle Gibson had a trickle-down effect from AA-AAA (Logan Darnell) to hi-A to AA (Matt Summers) and Byron Buxton filling the Miracle roster spot.
Esmerling Vasquez was released from the Red Wings' disabled list. (Noteworthy mostly because it got me my first mention on MLB Trade Rumors.)
It was a relatively slow day in the world of Twins Baseball with only two of the five ball clubs active. Though that didn't prevent us from hearing some pretty newsworthy things.
Twins first round draft pick Kohl Stewart is en route to the Twin Cities. In fact, at 9:28 pm, he tweeted a photo of Target Field from the Twins dugout. He's obviously not signed, sealed and delivered. But he's well on the way. I'm holding out hope that the deal gets done by tomorrow afternoon and he throws
(This post will be updated after the completion of tonight's games.)
Since last night’s podcast/minor league review there have been a few more moves.
The Twins placed Aaron Hicks on the DL with a strained hamstring and recalled Oswaldo Arcia.
The Red Wings, who had a full roster following the addition of James Beresford and re-addition of Chris Colabello, placed Danny Lehmann on the 7-day DL with right elbow neuritis. You can Google it like I did and you’ll
The only Twins news of the days was the purchasing of OF Clete Thomas’s contract. To make room on the 40-man roster, LRP Tyler Robertson was designated for assignment.
LRP Blake Martin was promoted from New Britain to take fill Robertson’s lefty role in Rochester’s bullpen.
INF Joel Licon was summoned from Extended Spring Training to Cedar Rapids to help while SS Niko Goodrum recovers from yesterday’s concussion.
All the moves made today are reflected here.
