Mike Pelfrey was far from the most popular Twins free agent signing this offseason, between the subpar 2013 numbers and the feeling that his signing prevented the Twins from pursuing other, higher upside free agents - it was tough to spin the return of Pelfrey as a net positive. Factor in the notion that the Twins bid against themselves and effectively overpaid Pelfrey with a 2 year, $11 million contract and the sour taste from Twins fan's was understandable.

The Minnesota Twins are currently 2nd in the AL in runs scored (86), 1st in OBP (.353) and 1st in walks (82). They also lead the AL in runs per game at 5.76. Thatís not too bad for an offense that was routinely picked to finish towards the bottom of the league in nearly every category.
Yes, itís only April and the sample size is incredibly small Ė but itís a good start.

The Twins fell to the Blue Jays on Tuesday night due in large part to the wheels falling off the Phil Hughes strikeout express in the 6th inning. After cruising through 5 innings, limiting the Jays to 4 hits while striking out 5 batters, Hughes suddenly couldnít retire a single batter and was forced from the game clinging to a 2-1 lead with 2 runners on and no outs. Those runners would score (plus one more for good measure) which left Hughes with a disappointing stat line of 5.0 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 4
