On Sunday, the Minnesota Twins announced their Florida Instructional League roster. The Florida Instructional League is designed for younger players in the organization to get some extra time and instruction in the Twins system. 3. Twins Minor League Report (9/7): Rochester Lives Another Day

This much can be said. When the Rochester Red Wings have been in absolute need of a win, the bats have come through in big style. It has also helped to have Scott Diamond making those starts. That was again the case for the team on Saturday night in Pawtucket.

As you recall, on Labor Day, the final day of the regular season, the Red Wings needed to win and get a loss from Norfolk. Durham helped the Twins by beating the Tide in extra innings. The Red Wings scored nine first inning runs ...

  5. Twins Minor League Report (9/5): Kernels Kaput

On Wednesday night, the Ft. Myers Miracle were swept out of the Florida State League playoffs by Charlotte. On Thursday night, the Cedar Rapids Kernels, the best team in the Midwest League in 2013, lost to the Quad Cities River Bandits for the second straight night to end their season. Such is the randomness of a Best of Three playoff series after a 140 game season.

Rochester also lost on Pawtucket on Thursday night. The loss evened the series at a game a piece. That turns a Best of ...

  8. Twins Minor League Playoff Preview

The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Ft. Myers Miracle booked their playoff seats more than two months ago by virtue of their first-half success. The Kernels won a Midwest League playoff spot as a wild card from the first half. The Miracle team won their division in the first half.

For the Rochester Red Wings, it came right down to the last day. Because of a late-season plummet, the Wings did not control their own destiny. On Labor Day, the Red Wings had to win and hope that the Norfolk Tide ...

  9. Twins Minor League Report (8/30): Sano Shines Brightly

  11. Five Overlooked Twins Minor League Hitters in 2013

As I'm sitting here on an airplane, I thought it would be cool to write up a blog from like 34,000 feet. Yes, I paid for the wireless, but I don't care. After 90 minute delay in Hartford, we landed in Philadelphia about 15 minutes before the "On Time" flight was to take off for Minneapolis. We immediately boarded, but thanks to storms and delays, we were on the runway for two hours and 15 minutes, the time the flight is supposed to take. Oh well. Makes me realize that on-time departures are vastly ...

  12. Twins Minor League Report (8/25): Sano Homers Twice

On Sunday, there was some terrific starting pitching in the Twins minor league system. Of the six starters, none gave up more than two runs and they all went at least five innings. 14. Twins Minor League Report (8/23): Rosario Really Rakes

There were a lot of standout performances on Friday night. Four starting pitchers provided Quality Starts for their teams. Strange for the Twins organization, one of them even had double-digit strikeouts, if you can believe that. Ten Twins minor leaguers had at least three hits on this day as well. Unfortunately, three of the Twins affiliates lost games in the last inning. But another team ended a poor steak in fine fashion.

The highlight of the night, despite a New Britain loss, has ...
