  1. 2013 Twins Lineup Challenge

Opening Day lineups are fun. But the real definition of a team is the composite lineup throughout the season.

Were the 2006 Twins defined more by opening day starter Tony Batista or the meteoric rise and fall of young Francisco Liriano?

IN 1984, the year Kirby Puckett established himself in centerfield for the Twins, the opening day center fielder was Jim Eisenreich.

The real test is to guess the season-long lineup. Baseball-Reference does a great job ...

Potential Backups: Darin Mastroianni, Joe Benson

Those who were eager to see an intense and compelling spring competition for the starting center field job have surely been disappointed.

Aaron Hicks was the front-runner before camp got underway and then took firm hold of the job with his truly stellar exhibition performance. Joe Benson was demoted ...

    • A lot of great performances today, including Joe Mauer's 6 RBI day that included a HR at dead center and Aaron Hick's 4 for 4 day, but the

  5. Pitch Men.

I've been married for over ten years, so trying to find an emotional connection with this group of Minnesota Twins pitchers is really hard for me.

    Let me explain.

Trying to keep up with the Twins players getting their innings in on the mound feels like trying to keep up with a string of bland blind dates that almost - but don't quite - squash the hope right out of your heart.

I know this from single friends. It sounds like there's always something to like ...

There are no Twins birthdays today. It is, however, the birthday of Hall of Famer George Sisler.

  7. Farm System thoughts

This is my first blog ever, so be gentle. I have a son who is 8 years old, and to my delight, has started following the TWINS. He hears about all these exciting prospects( Buxton, Sano, etc...) and wonders who were the big prospects when i was growing up. First of all, i was old enough where there was no internet, no FSN. I had to rely on The Baseball Digest, Baseball America, and Herb and John for info. The guy that i remember getting the biggest hype was Derek Parks. A power hitting catcher that ...

Here are my thoughts and observations from today:

  11. Our Minnesota Twins (Part 3)

As always this post can be seen in it's more easily formatted glory at our original site (where you can vote for a Twins player to go into our "Hall of Fame"...which given the calibre of my writing is a rather dubious honor)

It's time continue our introductions to this year's Minnesota Twins...if you're just joining us: we're here to answer that increasingly common question on Twins' fans (chapped) lips: "who the heck is that guy?" And we'll do it in the most Minnesotan

  14. What now for Joe Benson?

The Twins made a few more cuts today, which is common during these final days of Spring Training. Joe Benson was cut and that is very disappointing to me. Benson is a player that I have been excited about for many years and a player who was given the opportunity to win the open center field job, after the trades of Ben Revere and Denard Span. Benson was not impressive this Spring. I don't put a lot of stock into Spring Training stats, but a .151/.286/.283 line with 15 strikeouts in 63 plate ...
