Centre of Horrors, With an “R-E” (Twins 0 Blue Jays 4 - Game 82)
After an early first pitch and late jog, my trusty phone informed me the Twins were down four to zip. Last week I might’ve had enough “never say die” to keep an eye on the game, but the Yankees took that with them back to New York.
Catching the pre-game show on my drive home didn’t exactly fill me with rainbows, hopes, and dreams. The crew kept referring to Rogers Centre as a “House of Horrors” for the Twins.
The Minnesota Twins front office likely watched with interest yesterday as one of the bigger chips on the trade market was moved. The Marlins traded starting pitcher Ricky Nolasco to the Dodgers for three third-tier prospects and $200 grand in international signing money, and agreed to pay the $5+ million on Nolasco's contract this year. Nolaso was perceived as one of the better pitchers on the trade market. The deal's details suggest some truths about the trade market
Our family trip continues. On Friday night we watched Mark Buehrle shut out the Twins at Rogers Centre. The highlight? Justin Morneau once again came and signed for my 10 year old son. I've got an old 2006 "Team Canada" Morneau jersey that always seems to bring him over for a visit. Lots of stories shared over the first base line over the years, and someday I'll blog about him. I asked if he's coming back next year, and he beamed, "I hope so." He signed a
Back to write-up for tonight:
ROCHESTER RED WINGS 3, PAWTUCKET RED SOX 2 (10 innings)
Another night with very little offense, but, more importantly, another win for the Red Wings. Tonight's win was their 5th consecutive and, impressively, gets them over .500 on the season.
I remember there being lots of panic and disappointment when they started the season 2-11. People questioning why Rochester re-upped with the Twins. People saying

The Twins are doing better than expected in 2013, but after a five game losing streak they find themselves 36-46 and 9 games out of first place. They hung in there for quite a while this year and that is commendable as even though nobody with the Twins was willing to admit it 2013 was always going to be a rebuilding year. The Twins classically overachieved over the first three months and it left Twins fans wondering can this team be last years Baltimore and just shock everyone. After the last
I will have a more in depth top 20 prospect look during the all star break, but I wanted to give you guys the initial top 20 look with a sentence about each prospect. I hope you will give me feedback on what you think of my selections and who you think I may have left out or what you think. You can either leave me a comment here or email me at[email protected].

Here's today's top three trade deadline stories of the last couple days and how it might impact the Minnesota Twins:
#3 - The Reliever Market
Ken Rosenthal breaks down the "supply" side of MLB relievers for the trade deadline - and the Twins are completely omitted. That's a little surprising considering the Twins' seller status and the presence of Glen Perkins on the roster, but maybe Terry Ryan's protests about the subject are actually
As you know, I have been in Cedar Rapids for their past two games against Wisconsin. They won on Thursday, but they fell 8-7 on Friday. This is a first. Following the game, my brother played cameraman, and we decided to record the minor league report. This is, essentially, a video version of what you would typically read. Let us know what you think.
I'd also like to thank everyone involved with the Kernels, from GM Dog Nelson, to the coaching staff and the players, for being great

The Twins left Minnesota and the country yesterday with their tails between their legs after losing their fifth straight game and four in a row to those hated New York Yankees. The Yankees were slumping when they limped in to town but that didn't stop this bunch of misfits and cast-offs from kicking some serious Twins butts here in Minnesota. I have seen better visiting Yankee teams at Ft.
Blink and the World Ends (Twins 4 Yankees 10 - Game 78)
This was supposed to cross the finish line with the Twins in the lead. I’d decided that late last week. The Twins are struggling but still have a heartbeat. The Yankees have pains of their own. The saga’s supposed to take a turn for the Twin Cities tonight. I expected a spanking, perhaps with the Twins using a broom.
The innings I caught on the radio didn’t spoil my dream, even though I did enjoy hearing Dan Gladden’s
Cedar Rapids Kernels hitting coach Tommy Watkins knows his way around a minor league field, having spent parts of 11 seasons as a player in the Minnesota Twins minor league system. Toward the end of the 2007 season, he got to live the dream of every player who ever put on a minor league uniform when he was called up to the Big Leagues by the Twins.

There's a fuller write up "recapping" the last week plus in Twins Territory at our main blog, but here are a few key samplings from each series
Marlins 5 - Twins 3
The Twins have a good deal of early success against Miami's starter in the first inning, they run into trouble against Kevin "Killthrow" Slowey, who savored the opportunity to best the team that let him go. Elsewhere "Dr. Cakeburn"Nick Blackburn, and Boof Bonser plotted their
Due to a family situation, I have not been able to publish Twins birthday biographies. I hope to be back doing so Monday or Tuesday. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

I hope everyone had a fun and leisurely 4th. I kept it cool, just hanging out in my house and laying low. I watched the Twins game yesterday and I was saddened by Kyle Gibson's performance. I think he'll bounce back, but seeing him struggle was a good reminder that he is a rookie and there will be growing pains. Enough analysis, I'm here to answer questions from myself.
