  1. Minor League Players to Watch: Pitchers and Catchers

Pitchers and catchers will hold their first workout on Wednesday morning and that can be exciting for multiple reasons. There is hope at the beginning of any baseball year that your club will be able to put it all together and come through a long season with a World Series Championship at the other end.

Yesterday I wrote about some of the major story lines that fans can follow during the course of spring training with the pitchers and catchers. There is at least one spot open in the ...
  2. TD Top Prospects: #3 Aaron Hicks

    Age: 23 (DOB: 10/2/89)
    2012 Stats
    AA: .286/.384/.460, 13 HR, 61 RBI, 100 R, 32/43 SB
    ETA: 2013

Aaron Hicks is a top Minnesota Twins prospect

When it comes to physical tools, Aaron Hicks is tough to top. A muscular 6'2" outfielder with tremendous speed and an arm so strong that many teams considered drafting him as a pitcher, he's the type of player scouts salivate over.

Will the production match the athleticism? That's a question that has followed him throughout ...

  3. Baseball Season is Upon Us

While the frost persists in the north, the sun is shining here in Fort Myers and I wanted to give everyone an update on what’s going on. Baseball season always seems far away when the snow is falling, but it is right around the corner. Pitchers and catchers reported for big league camp today and minor league camp is coming up.

I have been rehabbing my wrist here for the past month to get fully prepared for Spring Training and the season. A few of my friends and teammates from last season ...

  4. Prospect list in depth, Part Seven: 6-10

    10. Trevor May (DOB: 9-23-89), RH starter: May came over with Vance Worley in the Ben Revere trade. That trade was a steal for the Twins. Not only did they get a competent middle of the rotation guy for 2013, but they got another for 2014 or 2015 in May. There has been some talk about May’s struggles in AA in 2012 and the potential move to the bullpen. I am not at all clear as to why such nonsense has been uttered. If one actually looks at the numbers, May in 2010 at A ball was dominant. He struck ...

  5. How happy would we be

I was looking at several current and fromer players to see who some of our top prospects would compare to, maybe get a glimpse of what they might look like in a few years if everything went right. Would an infield featuring Adrian Beltre (Sano) and Robinson Cano (Rosario) excite you? How about an outfield Devon White, Magglio Ordonez, Kenny Lofton and Shawn Green

Now Beltre made the majors at 19 and was full time in the majors for his age 20 season. Beltre is about 2 ...

It has been a while since the Minnesota Twins had major league ready offensive talent in their farm system knocking on the door of the big club. Outfielder Oswaldo Arcia appears to be wiping his feet at the welcome mat.

Of course, there are just a few more steps - and players - ahead of him.

    One of ...
  7. Twins Spring Story Lines: Pitchers and Catchers

It might have seemed like it would never come (especially with the recent snow storm that hit a chunk of Twins Territory) but Twins pitchers and catchers report to Fort Myers today. The first workout is tomorrow morning and there are plenty of questions to be answered before the start of the year.

For the rest of the position players, the reporting date is on Friday with the first full squad workout taking place on Saturday. It sure doesn't feel like it is close to the start of baseball ...
  8. Roster Projections Part 1: Pitchers and Catchers

Happy Pitchers and Catchers Report Day!

It has been 131 days since the Twins lost a 2-1 decision to the Toronto Blue Jays. It’s been a long offseason, and frankly, rehashing the same offseason transactions and rumors needs to stop. But today down in Ft. Myers, the Twins pitchers and catchers will report and soon after will start officially preparing for the 2013 season. They’ll throw in the bullpen. They’ll do a ton of PFPs (Pitcher’s Fielding Practice). They will also likely do a ...

  9. 5 Questions with MLB Fan Cave Nominee Michael McGivern

For the second year in a row, Twins fans can help to send a local representative to New York City for MLB's Fan Cave. Michael McGivern, a resident of St. Paul, is one of 52 finalist for this year's version of the Fan Cave. He needs help from everyone in Twins Territory by voting for him as much as possible. Fans can vote at MLB.com and you can see his video below.

The MLB Fan Cave started in 2011 as two "cave dwellers" were selected to live in NYC for the entire season. As part of ...

Size: 61.6 KBThe hits have just kept on coming for the Twins over the past two seasons, leaving those who believe in karmic balance to wonder just when a spell of good fortune would come along for a change. Apparently we're still not there yet, as La Velle E. Neal III indicated on Friday that reigning No. 1 starter Scott Diamond is "really iffy" to be ready for Opening Day after undergoing offseason elbow surgery.

Diamond is a prime regression candidate, but he's the ...

  11. TD Twins Top Prospects: #5 Alex Meyer

    Age: 23 (DOB: 1/3/90)
    2012 Stats
    A and High-A: 129.0 IP, 2.86 ERA, 139/45 K/BB, 1.10 WHIP
    ETA: 2014

Generally speaking, the best trades are the ones that both sides can be happy about. Of course, for fans, the best trades are the ones where your team ripped off the other team. In late November, the Minnesota Twins and Washington Nationals finally reached an agreement on a deal that would send Denard Span to the nation’s capital in exchange for minor league pitcher ...

  12. Gleeman and the Geek Episode 80: Driving Miss Aaron and Horseplay

Aaron and John talk about braving the blizzard in the name of podcasting, Anthony Swarzak's horseplay, Scott Diamond's setback, the Twins' pitching curse, Joe Saunders choosing "dollars and years" somewhere else, where the Twins' farm system ranks, reaching 500,000 downloads, bad mug shots, The Voice of Reason's evil twin, Lifetime Hockey's annual camp, and drinking vodka like water. Here are:

  13. Scouting with Sean Johnson

As Spring Training approaches, we’ve hashed and re-hashed Prospect Lists. We’ve dissected the signing of Kevin Correia many times over. We’ve projected lineups of every affiliate.

There are few things more informative than talking with those that are behind the information. So today let’s do something else. Let’s talk scouting with West Coast Scouting Supervisor Sean Johnson.

First off, huge thanks to Sean! As baseball is starting to get rolling, he took ...

  14. A Championship the Twins can win.

All content was originally published at Kevin Slowey was Framed!

I figured out how the Twins could win a baseball championship. However, I don't want to waste anyone's time, so this theory falls quite a bit short of reality. If you want realistic baseball analysis, I have been writing about some Twins-related players in the last couple weeks, and you can read about them here:

Joe Saunders signs with the Mariners
Matt Capps signs with the Indians
Kevin Slowey signs with the Marlins ...
