  1. Morneau Reminds Twins Fans That He's Still Here

For the Twins, this month is supposed to be about the rookies – giving them chances, evaluating them, taking the losses that inevitably result.

The M&M boys, Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau, gave the youngsters a demo yesterday on what September baseball can be. In their heyday, Mauer nearly hitting for the cycle and Morneau’s multi-home run game would’ve given each a chit towards an(other) MVP award. This ...

The Beloit Snappers’ season is now complete, and that marks the end of the season for each of the Twins minor league affiliates. Several Twins minor leaguers are currently playing in the European Cup in The Netherlands. October marks the beginning of the Arizona Fall League and soon winter leagues in the Caribbean will start. Before thinking about that, it’s time for Twins Daily to hand out some minor league awards!

In coming days, I’ll be presenting ...

  3. Lew Ford Homers for Baltimore. Is our Flakiest Former Twin in the Playoffs?

Lew Ford homered to left center field off of C.C. Sabathia last night (9/8/12), his third home run in 55 at bats for Baltimore. Later in the game, Nick Markakis broke his thumb. He will be out for six weeks.

So, will Lew Ford be patrolling/platooning in right field for the O's if they make the postseason? LLEEEWWW hasn't spent a lot of time in Baltimore this season, but with Markakis out, one must ask the proverbial question, 'Will Baltimore Get Mileage from Ford' on their postseason ...

This morning, Nationals manager Davey Johnson told hard-throwing All Star right-hander Stephen Strasburg that he is being shut down. He then blamed his struggles on the media attention that the team's decision has drawn.

Strasburg had his Tommy John surgery almost exactly one year to the day before Twins prospect Kyle Gibson had his Tommy John surgery. There have been many similarities between their recoveries. So, how should the Twins handle Kyle ...

  5. Is it just me? or is Plouffe really arrogant?

Does anybody need competition more than Trevor Plouffe? Anybody else struggling like he is, would not be playing.

I know this wont happen, but I would love to see the Twins bring up D Romero from New Britain and let Plouffe watch a lot of baseball.

Plouffe seems very arrogant to me, like it doesnt matter, he has the thumb injury to blame it on...just wait until he recovers....and wait...and wait....

Sit him please, he needs a major attitude adjustment!

Hopes were high late on Friday night when the Beloit Snappers beat the Clinton LumberKings in Game 1 of the Midwest League playoffs. They would be coming home with two chances to beat the top team in the league. The Snappers lost Game 2 on Thursday night in extra innings. On Friday night, in the decisive Game 3, the Snappers again lost in extra innings to end the series and their 2012 season. Would it also be the final time the Beloit Snappers would be affiliated ...

  7. A look at the Weekend

Well here it is, September, the stretch run. For me tied for the second best time of year with opening week and trails only October. This is the time of year when series become critical. I know a win in April counts the same as a win in September. However there is one major difference, a team with a losing streak early in the season has all sorts of time to recover. Right now teams only have about 25 games remaining.

Now I know the Twins are out of it but if you call yourself a baseball

  8. Losing with Dignity - Conversations with Gardy

The end of a season is almost always disappointing. Only one team wins the World Series each year, and for each and every other team, there is some level of failure. Some teams fail a lot more spectacularly than others. Some fail like a gas main breaking or a lady falling out of a grape-stomping rig. In a lot of ways, the 2012 Twins are like the grape-stomping lady. They asked everyone for a break while they gathered themselves from the 2011 filled with injuries and disappointment, only to ...

ID:	2295When the Twins front office begins to renovate this mess of a house in the winter, at the top of the list the highest priority has to be fixing the starting rotation. It is the home’s crumbling foundation and that needs the most attention.

Afterwards, item number two could be repairing the all-important middle infield position.

Offensively, over the past two seasons the Twins shortstops have hit a combined .241/.303/.326. It was this kind of ...

  10. Friday Links-N-Thinks

Anytime the Twins end a week with a .500 record, it is a step in the right direction. A sweep of a day-night double header in Kansas City last Saturday helped to get the team off to the right track for the week. The big offensive showing on Tuesday night against the White Sox was also fun to see even though the Twins ended up losing the series. It might be sad to be happy about a .500 record for a week but when your team is 18.5 games out of first place you look for any positive signs that you can ...

There will be a decisive Game 3 played in Beloit on Friday night at 6:30. The Snappers took Game 1 in Clinton on Wednesday night. On Thursday night, the LumberKings returned the favor, topping the Snappers 7-5 in ten innings.

Cole Johnson started for the Snappers and had a real up-and-down start. In the top of the first, his nerves seemed to show. He gave up back-to-back hits to lead off the game and a walk to load the bases. However, he ...

  12. Top 10 Prospects: Season in Review

    Name: sano.jpg

Size: 9.9 KBPrior to the start of every season, I like to go through the Twins organization and rank my Top 10 prospects, offering a glimpse of the farm system's strength and providing my personal take on the hierarchy of the club's best up-and-coming players.

Now that the regular seasons of every minor-league affiliate have come to a close, it seems fitting to look back the this year's Top 10 and see how they all fared. Last year, this was a depressing exercise, as ...

  14. Early 2013 MLB Draft Profiles

This article was originally posted at Knuckleballsblog.com.

It is way to early to start thinking about the MLB draft, especially with real, meaningful baseball being played. But it probably does not hurt to start familiarizing ourselves with some of the names that might be floating around the top of the pre-draft rankings. If the draft was to start today, the Twins would find themselves with the third overall selection. Here are the first 6 of 11 potential first round draft picks
