  1. The Road to Rebuild: Trading Away Assets

  2. TD: Twins Top Prospects: #8 JO Berrios

    Age: 18 (DOB: 05/27/94)
    2012 Stats (Rookie): 3-0, 30.2 IP, 1.17 ERA, 0.62 WHIP, 49/4 K/ BB
    ETA: 2016

The 2012 draft was very important for the Minnesota Twins. Instead of drafting college players, the Twins used their first two picks on high school players. They took OF Byron Buxton with the #2 overall pick. With their first supplemental first-round selection, compensation for having lost Michael Cuddyer to the Rockies in free agency, the Twins took right-handed pitcher, ...

  3. Who Are These Guys, Anyway? Quick and Dirty 2013 Spring Training Guide

Originally posted at k-bro's baseball blog

As of now, 66 players are expected to be there: 34 pitchers, 9 catchers (a lot of catchers needed for a lot of pitchers), 13 infielders, and 10 outfielders. There are a lot of bodies (I imagine the locker room might be a tad crowded), but there are also a lot of holes from 2012 to be filled. By the end of it, there will be 25 men ready to head north and face the Tigers

Size: 21.2 KBA thick coat of snow fell upon Target Field over the weekend, transforming the structure into a lifeless, cold and white blob. On Tuesday, temperatures in the Twin Cities rose toward 30 and the clouds dissipated.

Bathed in sun, with green plastic seat-backs peeking through the melting snow, the ballpark started to look like… well, a ballpark. This coming weekend, temperatures in Minnesota will near the 40s while pitchers and catchers unpack their bags in ...

  6. The Road to Rebuild: Kyle Gibson could be key

Over the next couple of days I will be looking at a few different topics as it relates to the Twins getting back to their winning ways. It has been a tough couple of seasons for Twins fans but it looks like there is hope for the future. This might not come in 2013 but it is only the first step in the process.

"The Road to Rebuild" series will look at some of the key figures or events that will be critical for the long-term success of the organization. There are plenty of things that ...
  7. TD Top Prospects: #9 Trevor May

On paper, Trevor May has all the makings of an elite pitcher. At six-foot-five and 215 pounds, the 22-year-old right-hander has the stature of a legit workhorse.

“Just his build, he is built just like a pitcher,” remarked Dusty Wathan, May’s manager at Reading (AA) last year. “If you were going to build a starting pitcher ...
  8. Talk to Contact: EP 23 - Royal Pains, Hipster Pants, 25-man roster

Episode 23 of the Twins baseball podcast, Talk To Contact (@TalkToContact), is now available for download via iTunes or by clicking here.

This week the Pleiss brothers spend way too much time discussing obscure state capitols and bantering on about MySpace and hipsters but in between those strange and obscure conversations you can find plenty of talk about the Minnesota Twins, including a discussing ...

Most sports fans are well aware that the Super Bowl was played last night. Those that watched the game also know that one of the biggest story lines of the night was when a power surge caused the lights to go out in the Superdome. It took about a half an hour for the whole ordeal to get worked out and for the players to get back on the field.

The Twins played under the Metrodome roof for close to three decades and there are bound to be a few mishaps ...

By the time he's done playing, Max Kepler might be known as one of the greatest major-league hitters ever to come out of Europe.

And he's the tenth-best prospect for the Twins? That seems crazy. But take a look at this all-time European All-Star team that Dave Schoenfield put together a couple years ago. There are some ...

  11. From Big Fish to Bottom Feeders: The Real Trouble with the Twins

Hello Folks. This is my first blog post on TD, and, as such, it's probably got some holes. Thanks anyway for reading:

It’s been a tough time for Twins fans. Back to back near 100-loss seasons has soured much of the joy of a new outdoor park, and familiar, fan favorite players have made their exits via free agency or trade. Rightfully, the Twins are trying to ready themselves for the coming season, and not dwell on the mountain of on-the-field and front-office failures. Terry Ryan ...

  12. AL Central Team Off-Season Reviews/2013 Team Previews

Hey everyone! I took a look at what each of the 4 other teams in the AL Central were up to this off-season. Once completed, the 4 previews consisted of a lot of words. Really, too many words. Therefore, I split each one up and posted them individually at my blog, Kevin Slowey was Framed!. I thought I would just provide links to each of the 4 previews here, for any who are interested. I swear this was not a ploy to get more pageviews, it was a simple ploy to continue to be lazy even though ...
  13. Brian Dozier Learned Lots from 2012, Looks Forward to 2013!

While a lot of people will be betting on the Super Bowl this weekend, Brian Dozier is looking to show the Minnesota Twins brass and the fans that he is worth betting on for the long haul.

Following his 2011 season, during which he was named the Twins minor league player of the year, expectations were high, maybe too high, for the now-25-year-old shortstop from the University of Southern Mississippi at the start of the 2012 season. After starting the season with a month in Rochester, ...

  14. Better than the Numbers

The phrase "better than his numbers" was a recent quote by Terry Ryan concerning newly acquired starter Kevin Correia. Now, I admit I have no idea whether Correia is "better than his numbers". I don't remember having seen him pitch and I haven't followed his career. The question for me is, is any pitcher "better than his numbers"?

It is an interesting question for many reasons. A large part of discussion about Jack Morris' suitability for the Hall
