ID:	1021The Minnesotan, Golden Gopher alum and baseball fan inside me all want to see Cole DeVries succeed in a Twins uniform. The analyst inside me knows that he probably won't.

DeVries is a great story. He was signed by the Twins as an undrafted free agent back in 2006 after a solid career at the University of Minnesota, and has gradually worked his way up the organizational ladder. On Tuesday, the 27-year-old was called up to the majors to fill Jason Marquis' ...

  2. P.J. Walters Diamonds

No, I am not hear to sell you jewelry.

What a shock! The Twin's Salvage crew this year is a couple of guys who no one would have expected to make any kind of impact. Scott Diamond and PJ Walters. I'll give Diamond a little credit as we traded an interesting prospect for him to retain his rights (Billy Bullock) because of the rule 5 draft. Walters is a little more drifty. Circa the movie "Men at Work", Diamond and Walters are our modern day Emilio Estevez and Charlie Sheen ...

I wish I would have looked at Floyd's stats vs the Twins before the game, but this is certainly worth seeing. "
Caving in against Minnesota is something Floyd and the White Sox do. Floyd is now 0-8 with an 8.85 ERA over his last eight starts against the Twins, making him the first White Sox pitcher to lose eight in a row to one team
since Tommy Thomas against the Yankees from 1926 to 1928
. There's some dignity in losing eight straight to the 1927
    Yankees
... not so much with the 2012 Twins."

  4. Tuesday's Trip through the Minors

As I put this post together, the Twins are up big on the Chicago White Sox in the eighth inning. Gavin Floyd struggled for the White Sox and the Twins pounced on him for nine runs in the first four innings. Only Ben Revere and Brian Dozier have yet to get involved in the hit parade so it will be interesting to see if they can join the club in the final innings.

PJ Walters is in the middle of his third start since being called up by the Twins. There were some bad starts to innings with ...
  5. Robin Ventura gets first crack at Twins

I wanted to post this as it is hard to read this statement. "
Now the Twins enter the mix, and how well the White Sox handle the American League's worst team could tell us whether the Sox can make anything more of their season."

On the flip side of this, the Twins could keep the momentum going as they have won 4 out of the last 5 games. There is nobody better to play,

To this respect, I am presenting profiles of the top 22 pitching prospects for the 2012 MLB draft.

I will be presenting these alphabetically, and at the end I will rank them. I will be doing about ...

In a Marquis-out/DeVries-up thread, it was mentioned by more than one that Matt Maloney ought to be put into the Rochester rotation. I had been thinking along those lines for a while now, too.

In fact, I wonder if the Twins considered doing this in April for the parent club, before sending Maloney down, by putting him into a long-relief outing or two. Unfortunately he pitched so poorly that they couldn't even "stretch him out" for a few ...

  9. Anthony Swarzak, Cheer Up!!!

Living in Ohio, the only time I got to see the Twins play (in person or live) was when they played the Indians. This year everything changed when I purchased the MLB.tv package. Now I can watch every game. I get to watch and listen to all of Mauer's professional at bats... Pavano's stache in high definition.... the cheerful ramblings of Bert.... and of course our wonderful pitching staff.

One thing that bothers me whenever I watch, is how sad Anthony Swarzak looks whenever he's pitching ...

  13. Minnesota Twins Top 50 Prospects (Part 1: 41-50)

Itís that time of year. The Major League Baseball first-year playersí draft starting in two weeks. That means that we need to get our pre-draft Top 50 Twins Prospects list out. Iíve always done this before the draft to take a look at where the organization is. Over the next week, weíll look at my choices for the Top 50 Twins Prospects. People talk a lot about the Twins farm system being weak. Well, I do need to acknowledge that in the past I generally had no idea coming up with the top 30. This ...
  14. 2012 Day-by-Day - May 21

Sorry for no update yesterday, attached is the recap from today. No Hitter or Pitcher of the day, but Jeff Manship did go strong in what could be a tryout for the big team. Despite no game from the Twins today, the organization has a much better day, winning in all 4 levels today, all but 1 convincingly.

    Here's the recap:
