  1. Sunday Game Notes

On Sunday afternoon, the Twins last the series finale to the Cubs by a score of 8-2. However, the Twins won yet another series. They will have another day off on Monday before hosting the Philadelphia Phillies and Milwaukee Brewers this coming week. Francisco Liriano started on Sunday for the Twins and gave up four runs on four hits in 5.2 innings. He walked three and struck out six. Trevor Plouffe raised his average to .217 with a 2-4 day. Jamey Carroll was also 2-4. He hit a double and is now ...
  2. Monday Night in the Minors (including Kyle Gibson Update)

As important as Monday was to the Twins organization because of the draft, there was another reason it was important. Kyle Gibson threw off of a mound for the first time since having Tommy John surgery. In a text message, he said that it "went really good!" He added that his "arm felt great!" For Gibson, it was another milestone passed on the way to getting back into some games later this summer!

Ben Revere and Jamey Carroll each had three hits. Josh Willingham hit his 11th homer. Justin ...
  3. Saturday in the Park

Jaynesville, WI - The Twins were in Cleveland on Saturday night and won 7-4. They jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one inning thanks to RBI singles by Joe Mauer, Justin Morneau and Trevor Plouffe. Cleveland clawed back with single runs in the first, third, fourth and fifth to tie the game. However, Plouffeís sixth home run of the season made it 5-4 after six, and Mauerís third home run, a two-run shot, gave the Twins their 7-4. PJ Walters started and his string of quality starts came to an end. He ...
  4. Minnesota Twins Top 50 Prospects (Part 4: 11-20)

Today, we continue to work through my Top 50 Twins Prospects list by looking at my choices for prospects 11 through 20. Last week, we looked at prospects 21-30, prospects 31-40, and prospects 41 through 50. For those that donít think the Twins have any shortstop prospects, you may want to check out this section. There are some high-quality, future big-league arms in this range. A couple of them were just drafted last year. Unfortunately, a couple of them are currently having some injury issues. ...
  5. Thursday Night Lights and Twins Minor League Weekly

The Twins lost 6-2 to the Blue Jays. Jason Marquis was able to go just four innings. The game was ugly for Twins fans. There were base running errors. There were several defensive errors. There was bad pitching, and bad hitting. Josh Willingham did home for the second straight night. As Gardenhire told the Twin Cities media following the game, ďThings happened out there that really donít happen in high school.Ē I guess itís fair to say that things have to get worse before they get better, but hopefully ...
  6. Sunday Afternoon Game Notes

The Twins fell behind early and were not able to catch up despite two solo home runs by catcher Ryan Doumit. That was pretty much it for the Twins offense . Simply, there were very few positives to be found in the Twinsí 1-5 road trip to the west coast. (To be fair, even in good years the Twins havenít done well on west coast trips.) The loss drops the Twins to 6-20 on the season. There have been a few changes this week, and I canít help but feel that there are more to come.

    On Monday, ...
  7. Saturday in the Park

The Twins got a Quality Start from Jason Marquis, but the bullpen struggled mightily and in the end, it was too much Felix Hernandez as the Mariners topped the Twins 7-0. The King went eight shutout innings against the Twins and allowed just one hit, a ground ball single between first and second base in the fourth inning.

It was the third time in their last four games that the Twins have been shutout. Earlier in the day, the Twins did announce that Justin Morneauís wrist was not getting ...
  8. Twins Minor League Hitter of the Month - April

Earlier this week, I handed out the ďawardsĒ for Twins minor league relief pitcher and starting pitcher of April. In each case, I was able to profile six pitchers and there were good numbers. Today, I am going to profile five Twins minor league hitters who had solid Aprils. Unlike with the pitchers, it was really tough to come up with hitters. If Iím being honest, it was a two-player race for the April Hitter of the Month. And, today, when the Twins have an off day after being shut out two straight ...
  9. Friday Night Minor League Lights

The Twins lost yet again in a back-and-forth battle against the Royals. The Twins had plenty of runners on base again but didnít get enough to score. There was the occasional good pitch, good (or umpire-assisted) defensive plays and some bad luck. Carl Pavano just didnít have it, and the defense was also unable to hold a lead. The Twins have now lost six in a row. The Royals have won 3-0.

  10. Tuesday Night Game Notes

The Twins were pretty well dominated by the Red Sox on Tuesday night, losing 11-2. Nick Blackburn was crushed. Matt Maloney was crushed. The offense didnít come through. There was even some bad defense. Itsí a good thing that there are plenty of positive things going on in the Twins farm system to give us positive stuff to talk about!

  11. Tracking the Twins Top Prospects

Over 60 Twins minor leaguers were adopted in yesterday's Twins Adopt-a-Propsect. If you are interested, you can still adopt a Twins prospect by clicking here and selecting a Twins minor leaguer. There is a huge interest in the Twins minor league system, and for good reason. Although you may read or hear that the Twins farm system is struggling and middle-of-the-pack, that certainly does not mean that there are not people worth tracking.

That's what we'll do here today. In each of the ...
  12. Monday Night in the Minors

As I type this, the Twins and the Red Sox are sitting at 5-5 in the 7th inning. Who knows how long that game will go. All three Twins minor league games were in the Eastern time zone, so those games are all complete.

Here is a look at the Twins minor league scores and highlights from Sunday:

    ROCHESTER RED WINGS

Rochester residents were the recipient of three inches of snow when they woke up on Monday morning. Fortunately, the Red Wings did not have a scheduled ...
  13. Saturday Night in the Park (Game Notes)

It was a terrific pitcherís dual through five-and-a-half innings. In fact, Carl Pavano was one out from getting out of the bottom of the 6th inning. Then came a blooper and an error. The Rays had a 3-0 lead, made it 4-0 later, and despite a late run for the Twins, they fell 4-1 to the Rays. In reality, after the Rays got the lead, thing were not pretty for the Twins. Jamey Carroll committed his first error. Danny Valencia misplayed a ground ball. Jeff Gray inexplicably did not allow a run in the ...
  14. Saturday in the (Minor League) Park(s) - 4/14/12

The Twins lost for the second straight game to the Texas Rangers on Saturday. The story of the game was all of the runners stranded on bases, but it was a day full of stories for the Twins. The Yu Darvish Show made its first appearance at Target Field, and the right-hander from Japan didn’t disappoint. He showed all seven of his pitches and did a nice job of working out of some tough situations. Just before the game started, it came out that the Twins had claimed Clete Thomas, an outfielder ...
