  1. Arizona Fall League is Underway - Kepler is the Twins Star of the AFL So Far

Not that I thought his 40-man roster spot was ever in doubt.

But he's the best performing Twin so far in the ARZ Fall League, which started on Oct 8.

Here's a story on Kepler and his performance in his last game.

Here's the Twins stats - they're on the Glendale Desert Dogs.

  2. Paul Molitor Talks Sano, Buxton, & the Organization Being Open to New Ideas

I'm not sure how much others in the organization are on the same page as Paul Molitor, but he is in the organization and a person gaining more and more influence.

He was interviewed on 1500espn Thursday.

    Bullet List:
    - Robinson Cano getting $305M
    - Dozier and Arcia are bright spots.
    - Dozier should hit around .270 when all said and done.
    - Twins Front Office being open to putting something exciting on the field, point blank, seeing if young players ...

  3. Mauer's value

This past series, and the next, Mauer will be watching his teammate, from home, as they get ready to face the Kansas City Royals. A month ago us fans were hoping by now we would be ahead in the standings looking down on the Royals and maybe even the Indians. And after having 23 games in the month of August against central division opponents this isn't the case. The Twins only ended up winning 9 out of those 20 games (3 left to be played against Kansas City).

    After going onto ...

  4. Your pick Correa or Buxton

With the recent release of the MLB Futures game roster, it came to no ones surprise that Miguel Sano and Byron Buxton were on that list. Sano who was making a mockery of high-A ball and is now starting to catch fire in Double A. And Buxton who was also destroying low A ball in Cedar Rapids now finds himself in high-A and has yet to make a strong impact there (having only played 4 games there).

Now lets say you just became a hugely dedicated Twins fan and had no idea when or ...

  5. Winning Two Out Of Three: Future Prospects May Make the Difference

The old adage is that a baseball season can be broken into three columns. All teams win one third of their games--even the lousyteams. All teams lose one third of their games--even the best teams. It is the other third that makes the difference.
The series with Washington is a perfect example. Minnesota took game one on the strength of their bullpen and a hot backup catcher/dh. The Nats blew out the Twins in game two. Then, in that all-important third game, our Twinkies lost by one run as ...
  6. Signing Projections

With the deadline being moved up by a month, we've seen many draft picks come to terms and report. I usually take the week following the draft to gather information and then make a (somewhat educated) guess at what draft picks will sign and which will return or go to college. (Going to have to shorten that time frame up in the future.)

Now that the draft has been shortened by 10 rounds, it is hard to use precedence to set a number on how many players the team will sign. I'm guessing ...

    Classic baseball name? Check.

Yep, Byron Buxton seems to have everything you'd hope for in a top pick. Now he just needs to turn his elite tools into production on the professional stage – something the last high-profile prep outfielder drafted by the Twins has failed to do thus far.

The comparisons to Aaron Hicks were ...

  8. High School Draft Prospect Roundup...

High school game recaps are proving more difficult to come by, but I was able to find some information on each of the guys I have been intrigued by.

Harvard-Westlake's Lucas Giolito has shown why he may be the first high school RHP ever taken first in the draft hitting 100 mph and striking out 8 in 6.1 in his last start. He only gave up one hit and walked no one, the Twins could be in a good position in that they can just take whichever pitcher Houston doesn't take at 1-1.

  9. Keith Law's Top 50 and his thoughts on potential Twins Draft picks...

Keith Law of ESPN Scouts Inc. came out with the first edition of his Top 50 (Insider required) draft prospects, and had an interesting take that differed from just about every other site I have seen. The top player on his board was Georgia High School OF Byron Buxton, who I reviewed here, saying he has the “potential for five above-average or plus tools” and also echoing the comparisons to the Upton brothers I have heard elsewhere. Buxton does defiantly fit the Twins preferred draft mold as an athletic, ...
