A nice comeback and Capps just utterly destroyed it. It could've been a nice win, something to maybe build on. Can't they just get rid of the guy, now?

I'm certainly not a fan of Capps, but he has pitch well to this point. I'm hoping he continues to pitch well enough to attract interest from other teams. Although I highly doubt other teams will overvalue him the way the Twins have....

I have to disagree; he has been working really hard at getting better at fielding, but improving your fielding isn't the kind of thing that you work on in the Majors, you work on it in AAA. Valencia just needs to spend some time down in AAA with a different hitting and fielding coach that might see something in his swing and the way he fields that Vavra isn't seeing up in the Bigs.

Wow, sorry for the horrible grammar I will make sure to change that. Didn't know it was a grammar test on my own blog.

the problem with Pujols is that he's been declining for 2-3 years already. The Angels are going to be stuck with an absolute albatross of a contract for multiple years. The only question for me is; how many years do the Angels pay Pujols NOT to play for them?
  8. rogrulz30's Avatar
Wow, that is a helluva statement, not one that the Angels fans would want to hear. I said instantly that the Pujols signing was not very good for the Angels, I never thought the production would be that bad, I thought he would help of course, and be a great player, but maybe for 2 or 3 years, after that the decline would be there.

I disagree. I think that Mr Pujols is toast.

I love Joe Maddon. Besides having trendy glasses, he seems very progressive in his strategies and doesn't always do things strictly by the almighty "book." He also seems to relate to his players very well. I don't know what to say about Valentine. For him to walk into a veteran-laden clubhouse such as Boston's and think he could pull what he has without creating an uproar is simply delusional.

Best Manager Joe Maddon (By a Mile) There would not be accountability issues. The Younger players would live up to his standards, or they would find themselves back in the minors. Players who wanted out of the lineup would have to tell him personally, not through a Trainer. Maddon would not manage through the Newspaper. Maddon would also instill a (battle to the last Man attitude.) + 8 Wins based on attitude and accountability.

Worst Manger Bobby Valentine Has made a mess of Boston in less then three weeks -10 losses at least.

This is a really nice story. Thank you for contributing it.

I'd love to have you post a few of these topics in the forum. Literally, #1 could be a topic. #2 could be a great topic. #3 could be a topic and have a Twins slant to it. I don't want to steal them from you, so if you have a chance, please, throw those out there.

I was at the game yesterday with my son. We were pretty depressed early on, and then the HITTING PARADE began. I saw it live and still don't believe what I saw...absolutely amazing. I knew these guys could hit better than the first four games showed, but I never expected 20 hits including three blasts. I, too, am worried about defense...love Willingham, but he seems a little lost in the outfield, as does Plouffe. I like Carroll at short. I just watched the Texas outfielders make two outstanding plays in the first two innings, the kind Torii made back in the day. I am a little confused about the $6.5 million that Baker will earn this year for not pitching...do the Twins have an insurance policy on his arm? Can't they go out a try to find a starter somewhere?

With the way the Twins have played the first four games, I would not be surprised if the Twins started 0 - 19. I have seen nothing that would lead me to believe that the Twins are able to hang a playoff caliber team.

I can't wait for the first time I hear the clutch hitting term thrown out by announcers, I just wish they would have a different verbage around the situation. I also love great timing and "making of a player" (David Freese) those create stories and something really fun to watch.

While I love timely, game-winning hits for the good guys, I don't really believe in "clutch." Yes, we all experience moments of heightened focus, but it's not something we can turn on when we want it. Those moments come when they want and leave quickly.

It seemed like Danny Valencia had a lot of "clutch hits" during a stretch last season. It was great to root for, but it was just luck and good timing.

Clutch hitting exists; clutch hitters do not.
