Originally posted at k-bro's baseball blog I have some little opinions on some news items, so I thought I'd share some of them. ~~~ Scott Diamond received a 6-game suspension for throwing toward Josh Hamilton's head on Friday. He plans to appeal the suspension. I'm glad he's appealing because I thought the whole situation was handled poorly. Roy Oswalt inexplicably beaned Joe Mauer in the back of the neck, I'm assuming ...
Aaron and John's last KFAN broadcast is live from the Minnesota State Fair. First they talk about the Twins slide, September callups and a report out of LA that the Dodgers pursued Justin Morneau this week. Then they are joined by Lindsay Guentzel who talks about the highlights and lowlights of living in the MLB Fan Cave, what it's like trying to build a career in media and why Aaron shouldn't lead with his hair on those first dates. Here are: the podcaststhe rss feed ...
When coming to form one's beliefs or making evaluations about things, the rather vast ocean between blind faith and evidence sets up a stark contrast in reasoned (or un-reasoned) judgment. This post is not about evolution or theism, but about something much less important in the grand scheme of things. This post is about the Twins' evaluation of Anthony Slama. Let's first examine the evidence, sticking to Slama's minor league and major league statistics. In parts of four ...
The Twins lost big to the Rangers, again. Maybe you’ve read this story before. The Twins starting pitcher (Brian Duensing on this day) puts the Twins way behind early in the game, and the offense isn’t able to catch up. Justin Morneau went 4-4 and homered for the 202nd time in his career to pass Gary Gaetti for 6th on the Twins all-time list. Pedro Florimon was 2-3 with a walk. Jamey Carroll went 2-4 with his 15th double. Joe Mauer doubled for the 26th time this year. The Twins lost for the fifth ...

Promotions and demotions are listed under the team where the player currently plays (this means promotions to the Minnesota Twins will not be listed here) Here are the transactions in all levels in the Twins organization from August 11th until yesterday August 17th: Rochester Redwings (International ...
In recent weeks, we have noticed an increase in the number of Blogs written by Twins Daily readers, and we want to make sure to give notice to those. Obviously, the front page often gets most of the attention, and the Forums follow with the discussion. But we want to encourage people to check out the Blogs page as well because there is often great content. And, if you are at all interested in expressing your opinions in a blog or writing a story on a player, a team, or ...
The Boston Red Sox have made it clear they are looking to make a fresh start after trading four of their highest-paid players to the LA Dodgers, in a trade that has been seen by fans betting MLB as one of the league’s biggest in decades. Starting pitcher Josh Beckett, first baseman, Adrian Gonzalez, left fielder, Carl Crawford, and infielder, Nick Punto, have left Boston to sign for the Dodgers, with James Loney, Ivan De Jesus, Allen Webster, and two as yet unnamed players heading ...
The Twins/Rangers game in Arlington was over pretty quickly. Samuel Deduno gave up one run in the first inning and five runs in the second. Somehow, he got through five innings and gave up seven runs on 11 hits. He walked the first batter he faced and that was the lone walk of the night. Kyle Waldrop came in and gave up just one run over three innings. But this game was about the Rangers. The Twins had just three hits. Adrian Beltre alone had ...
The Twins have been taxing their bullpen lately and are amidst a stretch of 20 games without a day off, so it makes sense that they decided to send down Matt Carson – who became the fifth outfielder after Denard Span returned Thursday – in exchange for relief help. The pitcher they called upon is Kyle Waldrop. This is his second time getting the nod this year, and he only missed a spot on the Opening Day roster because of an injury. It seems clear that the ...
The Twins are far from contending. It really is the sad reality. As much as we may think that adding two starting pitchers to the roster for 2013 will make the Twins contend, the reality is that 2 high quality starting pitchers added to this year's roster might have lead to a .500 finish. .500 teams are worthless in my mind. You either want to make the playoffs or rebuild, but you don't want to be in the middle. Middling teams usually do not compete for the playoffs and have difficulties drafting ...
A heavy defeat to the Texas Rangers only further deepened the sense of disappointment felt throughout the Minnesota Twins, after another tough American League season. The loss took the Twins’ MLB scores to a 1-8 on their current road trip and a season-worst 24 games below .500, leaving no one in any doubt that this year has been another failure. Despite such a disappointing year, the Twins will not be changing their head coach, with interim boss, Terry Ryan, receiving ...
Happy Friday to everyone in Twins Territory! As a professional educator by day, I saw my summer come to an end yesterday with the start of another school year. It feels good to get back into the swing of things even though it's still hot and sticky outside. The Minnesota State Fair started yesterday and attending the State Fair is one of the things that I will miss most about living in the suburbs of the Twin Cities. The food, the fun, and the festivities of the State Fair are one of ...
The future outfield of the Twins (Hicks, Arcia and Buxton) - I currently hold high hopes that this trio might be united by 2015. not entirely sure how exactly they're going to fit into a lineup though. Hicks is certainly showing that he has the capability to become a top lead-off man and yet early on in the going Buxton is also displaying the speed to profile in such a position as well. - At the moment I would give the leadoff spot to Hicks because he has the speed yet ...
On Thursday night, Denard Span played in his first game in 10 days since injuring his clavicle on a Jeff Keppinger line drive on August 12. Span’s absence triggered yet another debate amongst Twins fans and pundits alike who questioned the team’s inability to properly handle their disabled. Rather than place Span on the DL a day or two after the injury appeared to be more than simply a day-to-day situation and keep the dugout stocked with healthy bodies, ...
