He's a 21-year-old professional athlete. I'd say it's almost certain that he is.

I would hope so, both legs all at once is a great way to fall down a staircase.

The Twins had four first-round picks, as I stated before. Only one donned a Twins uniform. How does one don?
One leg at time, I think.

That would be fantastic. I would love nothing more than to find out that Arcia is a huge Beatles fan.

Last year with the Rock Cats, when Arcia got a big run-scoring hit, he would do a somewhat similar arm motion, and scream "WE LUUURRRK!" The team was down a few games in the standings, and someone taught him what "lurk" meant. It was actually pretty cool (and a little funny) to hear him yell that, and to see the reaction it got on the bench.
Oh man, I totally missed the safety call, what a bum I am.

That Arcia story from New Britain is awesome. I really like Arcia; he has personality. This team can be a bit vanilla and it's fun to have some energy from guys like Arcia and Ramirez.

That is the risk that High School kids take when they do not sign. On the other hand, college education is worth something as well...

The Twins took Smelter in the 11th round 3 years ago as a pitcher. They really liked him, offered him a lot of money. He went to Georgia Tech and has completely flopped. He was good as a reliever as a freshman. He also played in the OF and hit .222 with no power. He then got hurt his sophomore year and pitched very limited. This year, he's back in their bullpen with very pedestrian numbers. Can't help but think that he wishes he had signed, but wouldn't be surprised if the Twins still take a late-round flyer on him.

If this baseball thing doesn't work out, he's auditioning for his next career as a football referee. He'll be the designated safety caller.

When the teams that want to keep their kids from super 2 stautus start calling them up then the picture will be clearer.

Nice work with correlation coefficients. So how do you not give up hits? How does the bats missed data relate to this discussion? If teams are not getting good contact, maybe there are less hits. That is a little different than strikeouts. Is your spread sheet available ?

What's wrong in today's Free agent market is that teams pay a player (Josh Hamilton) for their 20's but get there 30's.Which is usually worse.

The key, as you propose, is the starting pitching--and the possibility that Gibson, Deduno, Devries or another arm could bolster the rotation. I would love to see Hernandez convert to a lefty option out of the bullpen. Worley needs some time in AAA, it appears.

As for the offense, I could see an uptick in production. Just to use the 8th spot in AL runs scored as an example, I could see the Twins move up two or three spots here, especially when Hicks, Willingham, and Doumit and Plouffe are tied for 3-5 in runs scored. They haven't exactly been filling the bases. We could easily see more production here.
