Original post from North Dakota Twins Fan ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ For the second season in a row, the Twins have taken a player who had previously served as a starter and given him a prominent role in the bullpen. Last year the Twins were very pleased with the performance of Glen Perkins as he developed into their most reliable arm in the bullpen. In a lot of tough situations, Ron Gardenhire ...
The Twins were pretty well dominated by the Red Sox on Tuesday night, losing 11-2. Nick Blackburn was crushed. Matt Maloney was crushed. The offense didn’t come through. There was even some bad defense. Its’ a good thing that there are plenty of positive things going on in the Twins farm system to give us positive stuff to talk about! Here is a look at the Twins minor league scores and highlights from Tuesday: ROCHESTER, SYRACUSE The Red Wings were rained out on ...
The Twins have played 18 games this year, and Joe Mauer has been in the starting lineup for every single one. That's right – you might not have noticed, but the embattled catcher has not taken a day off this season after missing half of the 2011 campaign due to various ailments. This is the longest Mauer has even gone into a season without stopping to rest, and it's not like the early schedule has been particularly forgiving, with only one day off and ...
It's late. I've worked both my jobs two days in a row, going on a 3rd. The Twins forgot to play tonight and thus my recap and commentary will be non-existent Minor League teams won all 3 of their games. Rochester got rained out. I'm going to switch back to posting a link to the Google Docs instead of "embedding" it in the blog post. Not sure who is reading this, if anyone, but I plan on updating this all season long, so if you read this and have a preference ...
After punishing spring training pitchers and promoting himself this offseason, Danny Valencia’s output in the regular season has left something to be desired. Coming off a down year in 2011 and made promises of rebounding and rededicating himself for this season. Rather than coming out the gates to a hot start, he now finds himself on the hot seat poised to lose starts. What has gone wrong for the Twins third baseman? In 2011, I attributed his ...
As I was leaving Target Field tonight, I noticed the game attendance was 33,000 and change. On a beautiful night early in the season with the Boston Red Sox in town, we still had over 6,000 empty seats in Target Field. It used to be that when a team like Boston or NY was in town, we would sellout and have another couple of thousand people packed in the ballpark with standing room only tickets. I know that I plan on going to all the games that I have tickets for this year, but with the product ...

Over the last few weeks, many people have posted about the Twins lack of wins. The poor record last year, along with the slow start this year has people calling for everything from blowing up the team, to firing the manager and front office, to increasing the payroll 20% in an effort to bring in more talent. I suppose a strong amount of emotion helps to show the strength of the fan base. Over the offseason, the Twins did not blowup the team. Rather they patched up holes with some ...
Originally posted at http://troystwinsdugout.wordpress.co...e-the-outcome/ The Twins so far this season have a record of 5-12. One of the reasons for this is the fact that they've not taken advantage of scoring opportunities. They've hit into 19 double plays. Not only that, they’re 8-47 with runners in scoring position in their past five games. Last night's 6-5 loss featured an excellent opportunity in the eighth ...

The Twins are 5-12. Terry Ryan has brought this team into the 2012 season woefully unable to compete at the major league level. Doing things "The Twins Way" or "The Terry Ryan Way" isn't working. No hard feelings. The Twins should clean house and simply try something different. The new GM should start by firing the entire field staff on Day One. How about starting a list of managerial candidates? Hrbek, Molitor, Carew, Smalley, Laudner, Or my favorite, how about Dan Gladden, ...

According to Rhett Bollinger, Ron Gardenhire confirmed that Francisco Liriano will skip his next scheduled start and will make his next start in Anaheim on May 1. Gardy said that he attributes Liriano's troubles to both mechanical issues as well as nerves with guys on base. He said that Anderson will watch Liriano throw BP sessions this Thursday and Saturday as they watch for progress. After Liriano's last start, Gardy said that they would "take a step back" and look at ...
Over 60 Twins minor leaguers were adopted in yesterday's Twins Adopt-a-Propsect. If you are interested, you can still adopt a Twins prospect by clicking here and selecting a Twins minor leaguer. There is a huge interest in the Twins minor league system, and for good reason. Although you may read or hear that the Twins farm system is struggling and middle-of-the-pack, that certainly does not mean that there are not people worth tracking. That's what we'll do here today. In each of the ...
