  1. The Mauer Formula: Finding Time to Catch

by , 01-29-2013 at 07:02 AM (North Dakota Twins Fan)
    Article: Parmelee's Promising Power-joe-mauer-minnesota-twins.jpg
The biggest topic of conversation (or at least one of the biggest) to come out of TwinsFest weekend surrounded Joe Mauer and how much he should be catching in the coming season. Mauer came out in multiple interviews and said that he wants to catch more next year. There are always positives and negatives when it comes to getting his 6-foot-5 frame crouched down behind the plate and it is up to the Twins to find the balanced formula for their All-Star player. ...
  2. Healthy Morneau wants to win again

    by , 01-28-2013 at 10:26 PM (SethSpeaks.net)
For the first time in several years, Minnesota Twins first baseman Justin Morneau has been able to enjoy an offseason free of concussion symptoms. “I feel good. I’ve been able to do everything I want to do. I feel strong. It’s a good feeling. I can use the cliché of ‘best I’ve ever felt’ or ‘Best shape of my life.’ I feel good. I have been able to do everything I’ve done in the past to help me prepare for the season.”

That’s the kind of news that Twins fans should be excited to hear. ...

  4. Ryan thinks Dozier was rushed in '12

    Article: Parmelee's Promising Power-brian-dozier-minnesota-twins.jpg
TwinsFest is one of the most fun weekends for fans of the Minnesota Twins and this past weekend was no different. There is excitement building for the new season, fans can gather to talk about their passion, and the players are happy to interact with fans of all ages.

During the last couple of years, one of my favorite parts of the weekend has been the fan question and answer session with Terry Ryan, Jim Pohlad, and Dave St. Peter. It offers fans ...
  5. Making a Name for Himself

    by , 01-28-2013 at 01:47 AM (SethSpeaks.net)
Over this past weekend, about 24,000 Twins fans made the trek to the Metrodome for Twins Fest. The annual event is a tremendous fund raiser for the Twins Community Fund, but it is also an opportunity for Twins fans to start getting themselves ready and excited about the upcoming season. It’s been a long offseason for Twins fans, so being able to enter the Dome and see many of their favorite current, former or future Twins can be a great experience for those that collect autographs or for those that ...

  6. What in the Hell is a Pedro Florimon?

    by , 01-27-2013 at 05:51 PM (Nick's Twins Blog)
"What in the hell is a Pedro Florimon?" -- professional baseball writer, doing research on projected starting lineups

    — Grant Brisbee (@mccoveychron) January 25, 2013

The above tweet from the wise-cracking and hilarious SB Nation scribe Grant Brisbee was undoubtedly written after he glanced over projected starting lineups across the majors and did a triple-take when he came to Minnesota's shortstop position.

He's hardly the first. I've had multiple national ...

  8. TwinsFest 2013 - Sunday Jan 27

by , 01-27-2013 at 02:19 PM (Standing Room Only)
TwinsFest - which I first experienced when the Twins were riding high on World Series victories, was a fun event to walk through and soak up the baseball atmosphere. It comes at the perfect time of year - Baseball has been done for a few months, and wont be back for a few months, Spring Training and Hot Stove coming up and in full effect. Wonderful. Lets start thinking baseball.

A fun autograph opportunity for me has been to bring Seth Stohs's Twins Prospect Book. It is a lot of fun ...
  9. An Early Rochester Red Wings Preview

    by , 01-26-2013 at 05:10 PM
    Bullpen Criticism-imag0248-1.jpg

The Rochester Red Wings finished the 2012 season with a 72-72 record. I know that doesn't seem impressive, but when you haven’t reached that mark since 2008 and suffered back to back 90 loss seasons in 2010 and ’11, it’s a step in the right direction.

There was a buzz about the ball park Friday. General Manager Dan Mason said that he was “very excited” about the 2013 season, and why shouldn't he be? The team is heading in the right direction, ...

  10. My Top 10 Favorite Minnesota Twins (with pictures!)

by , 01-26-2013 at 04:37 PM (Kevin Slowey was Framed!)
Hello Twins Daily! I haven't posted here in a long time, and I'll be honest, I miss it here. Also, I am not at TwinsFest today like seemingly everyone else, so I started to feel sad and nostalgic. I decided to create a top 10 favorite Twins list. But, that seemed kind of boring, so I added a little twist.

I have received two complaints in my entire life. 1. You don't illustrate enough. 2. You haven't made your

  11. Assessing the Starting Pitching in the Twins' Organization

    by , 01-26-2013 at 12:45 PM
(originally published at The Tenth Inning Stretch)
    ---

For a baseball team to content, one of three things need to happen:

    1. An organization has to develop impact starting pitchers.
    2. An organization has to trade for impact starting pitcher.
    3. An organizations has to sign impact starting pitcher free agents.

I demonstrated earlier this month that the Twins' last two year abysmal record could have been predicted as earlier as 2008, based on the state of their ...

  13. Who is the newest member of the Twins HOF, Tom Mee

    by , 01-25-2013 at 12:58 PM
(originally published at The Tenth Inning Stretch)
    ---

Today the Minnesota Twins selected two new members to their Hall of Fame, LHP "Everyday" Eddie Guardado, and long time staffer Tom Mee. All Twins' fans know Everyday Eddie, but who is Tom Mee?

Tom Mee has been with the Twins' organization from their first season in Minnesota (1961) until their last title (1991). He was the first front office person hired when the Twins moved to Minnesota in 1960 ...

  14. Classic Picks Great Credit to Twins Trio

    by , 01-25-2013 at 09:12 AM
Last week, Team USA announced its initial roster for the 2013 World Baseball Classic, with two Twins stars earning a role in the team ahead of the international baseball competition this March.

Our reliever, Glen Perkins, will fight for a place against some of baseball’s best. He is one of four lefties in the roster that includes young Royals pitcher, Tim Collins and San Francisco reliever, Jeremy Affeldt, who pitched in the World Series last fall.

    Meanwhile, ...
