  1. How valuable is Eduardo Escobar?

by , 04-30-2013 at 06:59 AM (North Dakota Twins Fan)
When the Twins traded Francisco Liriano to the Chicago White Sox last July, it seemed like the club was getting a bag of balls and some chewing gum in return. There wasn't much to get excited about with names like Pedro Hernadez and Eduardo Escobar. Flashforward a couple of months later and it is starting to look more and more like the Twins got some servicable players.

Escobar has built himself a nice little niche in the Twins clubhouse. Manager Ron Gardenhire uses him as a late inning ...
  2. Arcia's ascension could mean Willingham's exit

by , 04-17-2013 at 07:01 AM (North Dakota Twins Fan)
With the Twins up and down start to the year, it is hard to know if the team will be buyers or sellers at the trade deadline. Most likely the team will be selling. There will be plenty of talk about Justin Morneau being dealt in the coming months since his contract is up at the end of the year. Another important name to watch out for in the hot stove reports is Josh Willingham.

Willingham is coming off his best season and there might be more than one team looking to add a powerful ...
  3. Quick quiz hotshot....(For the sake of speculation)

What if Arcia goes all Wilson Ramos during the Angels series? Can you justify sending him down with your starting CF hitting right around Courtney James' and Antoine Broxsie's combined GPA? If Arcia shows a glimmer of his AAA stats, it's time to give the Mastro a good shin guard and let him roam CF for at least the next couple months, while Hicks builds his confidence in AAA. So where do you put Arcia, you might ask? I'm thinking as a DH/RF platoon with Parmelee as Doumit is hitting about as ...

We're happy to keep guiding you through the strange but true events of the Twins 2013 season
*Note: Events are not actually true, but would be very entertaining if they were.

Here's our second edition of Twins recaps as only we can do them: inaccurately but chock full of puns and bad jokes!

  5. Will the real Twins base stealers, please stand up?

by , 04-10-2013 at 06:46 AM (North Dakota Twins Fan)
Twins fans have been spoiled in the last two seasons.

Ben Revere made base stealing look easy. Even Denard Span could swipe a base or two if the club needed it. Both of these men are in different uniforms to start the 2013 season. In fact, three of the top four base stealers from the 2012 Twins are no longer with the organization.

Last year the Twins stole 135 bases, which ranked first in the American League. In 2011, the club finished in 10 place in the AL with 92 stolen ...
  6. Wha Happened? #1 (v.s. Tigers)

by , 04-05-2013 at 06:26 AM (Peanuts from Heaven)
In an effort to keep my blogging on a more consistent time-line, I have decided that rather than writing when the mood strikes me (or when I sigh dispiritedly at my inactivity), I will try to post short recaps of each series after they wrap up--this way I have a regular time to write and a consistent subject to write about.

Of course, while lots of people will tell you what happened, only we Peanuts can tell you what happened...in our imagination!

Potential Backups: Chris Parmelee, Joe Mauer, Jeff Clement

It’s been so long since we’ve seen Justin Morneau at his best, it’s easy to forget what “his best” even looked like. In the two-and-a-half seasons since his fateful concussion in Toronto, Morneau has shown only the occasion glimpse of elite hitting ability. Beyond the lingering effects of the head injury, ...
  9. Last go around for some Twins upper level prospects.

    by , 02-24-2013 at 07:34 AM
There are a number of Twins prospects from the upper level of the farm system that will need to produce the spring and summer or risk the chance of being left behind or needing a different orgainization to get to the major leagues in because of the wealth of talent the Twins have coming.

    1. Parmelee. He has the best chance of making it and also because of expectations the best chance of failure. His current shelve life is about 1/2 a season, because at that time the Twins will have ...
  10. Twins Spring Story Lines: Position Players

by , 02-15-2013 at 07:17 AM (North Dakota Twins Fan)
    It's official.

Twins position players are required to report to Fort Myers today. The team's first official workout will be held tomorrow morning. Quite a few of the players have already reported for duty and have been taking part in informal workouts.

The road to the Opening Day 2013 officially starts now and it's time to get the bad taste out of their mouths from the last two seasons. This could be quite the challenge with the roster that has been compiled by the front ...

  12. Chris Parmelee is primed for breakout season

by , 01-30-2013 at 07:10 AM (North Dakota Twins Fan)
As the beginning of the season approaches, there can be a lot of focus thrown on different players for each team. Some fans will focus on starting pitching and other fans will look at the top players in the line-up. There are usually some players that sneak under the radar before putting together a very good season for the club.

Last year, the Twins signed Josh Willingham and there wasn't a whole lot of buzz around him at the beginning of the year. Most fans were worried about the ...
  13. What '13 Twins rookie will have the biggest impact?

by , 01-22-2013 at 07:18 AM (North Dakota Twins Fan)
    Jason Kubel on Target Field-aaron-hicks-minnesota-twins.jpg
In the 2013 Minnesota Twins Prospect Handbook (which is now available in paperback and e-version copies), I wrote an article looking back at all of the players that were considered rookies in 2012. From Brian Dozier and Chris Herrmann to Scott Diamond and Tyler Robertson, there were 15 rookies to make appearances with the club. On a team fighting for every win, there were plenty of opportunities for some young blood to sink or swim.

Now that the Prospect Handbook has been out and fans have been able to look through it, ...
  14. Where would Twins be with trade of Morneau or Revere?

by , 12-06-2012 at 06:57 AM (North Dakota Twins Fan)
    Spring Training - Game 3 - 3/4 - @Boston Red Sox-justin-morneau-ben-revere.jpg
There have been plenty of rumors surrounding the Twins over the last couple of days at the Winter Meetings. The team still has plenty of holes to fill in their starting rotation and there is talk of adding a third baseman to challenge Trevor Plouffe for the starting role. It would be nice to see the team add some middle infield depth since there are plenty of question marks at those spots. Even with all of this talk, there hasn’t been much action on the home front. ...
