    by , 05-02-2013 at 10:12 PM
If you missed Cody's minor league report from yesterday, you can read it here. Seth also made his choice for Twins minor league Hitter of the Month. Andrew wrote up about Alex Meyer's last start.

There is a lot of draft info that cmb0252 put together into one thread.

And after yesterday's minor shuffle in Rochester, the R&P page has been updated as well.

On a separate note, after listening to the new Macklemore song "Can't Hold Us" a few times today, I'm ...

  2. Ranking the Twins AFL Performances

by , 11-19-2012 at 07:20 AM (North Dakota Twins Fan)
Over the weekend, seven members of the Twins farm system were part of a championship in the Arizona Fall League. Their team, the Peoria Javelinas, took the title in a championship contest that saw no runs scored in the final six innings. By the end of the game, the Javelinas were able to celebrate on the field and prospects for the Twins were right in the middle of all of the excitement.

The only member of the Twins to start in the game was Nate Roberts, the 2012 AFL batting champion. ...

For fans of the minor leagues, this time of year is pretty fun. The Elizabethton Twins will be starting their playoff run tonight. September call-ups can start happening on Friday. The minor league regular seasons come to an end on Labor Day and then more players get called up while those playoff runs start. As you know, Beloit will be in the Midwest League playoffs, and most likely, they will be the lone Twins full-season playoff team. Today, it is expected that ...
  4. Minnesota Twins Minor League Leaderboard

    by , 08-12-2012 at 11:41 AM (SethSpeaks.net)
As we get closer to the end of the minor league seasons, I thought it would be interesting to take a look at the leaders in many statistical categories. Throughout the season, Twins Daily has posted daily minor league reports. Within those, some names certainly tend to find their way into the reports more frequently than others. At the same time, there are others who have just been solid throughout the season and may surprise you when you see some of their rankings. There is still another 3-4 weeks, ...

  6. Thursday Minor League Rundown

    by , 07-20-2012 at 04:27 AM (SethSpeaks.net)
The Twins lost 4-3 to Baltimore to split a series with the Orioles. Tonight, they start a weekend series in Kansas City against the Royals. The Territory Train is packed full and heading to KC. I’m certain many other Twins fans will be following the team, watching some baseball, visiting the Negro League Baseball Museum and likely eating some really good BBQ. Yes, I’m jealous and need to get down to KC some day!

Anyway, it was an interesting night in the Twins farm system. Rochester ...
  7. Friday Night Minor League Nights

    by , 07-14-2012 at 08:04 AM (SethSpeaks.net)
Francisco Liriano struck out 15 batters in eight innings for the Twins on Friday night, and he got a loss. The talented left-hander was pitching with his form from 2006. Unfortunately, he also had the fourth inning. It started with a single by Jemile Weeks. One out later, Denard Span dropped a fly ball. Liriano then issued a walk. With the bases loaded, Liriano served up a pitch that Johnny Gomes knocked for a grand slam. Outside of the one inning, Liriano was dominant. Josh Willingham homered twice ...
  8. Monday in the Minors

    by , 07-10-2012 at 12:33 AM (SethSpeaks.net)
Twins players scattered all over the place to enjoy their All Star breaks. Joe Mauer is the team’s lone representative in tonight’s All-Star game. On Monday night, it was the Tigers’ Prince Fielder who out-slugged Blue Jays’ Jose Bautista to win his second Home Run Derby. The Rochester Red Wings also began their All-Star break with no game on Monday. New Britain played an early afternoon game and with its completion, they are now on their All-Star break. Each of the other Twins affiliates played ...
  9. Weekend in the Minors

    by , 07-09-2012 at 12:52 AM (SethSpeaks.net)
The Twins had two, touch, extra inning losses on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday night, it was Nelson Cruz that provided the game-winning hit. On Sunday night, it was Ian Kinsler. Sam Deduno had a very wild, but effective, Twins debut on Friday night. Cole De Vries was terrific, throwing seven scoreless innings against the potent Rangers’ offense. Casey Fien made his Twins debut, showing off a mid-90s fastball in a scoreless inning. It was also a busy weekend in the Twins minor leagues this weekend ...
  10. Twisn Minor League Hitter of the Month - June

    by , 07-04-2012 at 10:08 AM (SethSpeaks.net)
Earlier in the week, I posted the June Twins minor league starting pitcher and relief pitcher of the month of June. The starters were not too terribly impressive, but there were a lot of tremendous bullpen performances in June. So today, let’s take a look at which Twins minor league hitters had the best June performances. I’ll let you be the judge of how impressive the performances were.

Here are my selections for the Top 5 Twins Minor League hitters in May:

  11. Tuesday's Trip through the Minors

by , 07-03-2012 at 11:01 PM (North Dakota Twins Fan)
A rain delay in Detroit held up the start of the Twins game for an hour and a half. When the game got underway, it turned into a back and forth contest between the Tigers and the Twins. The Twins bash brothers of Josh Willingham and Trevor Plouffe each added another home run to their totals for the season as they continue to try and match each other for the team lead. Even Joe Mauer was able to hit his second home run in the past week with an opposite field home run in the later innings of the game. ...
  12. Monday Night in the Minors

    by , 07-03-2012 at 05:35 AM (SethSpeaks.net)
Liam Hendriks was again unable to pick up his first career win. Despite being given a five run lead going into the bottom of the 5th against the Tigers, he was unable to get an out. However, the Twins bullpen did what they’ve done all year. Anthony Swarzak came in and maintained the lead. Alex Burnett was tremendous again. And Glen Perkins got the save. All the efforts gave manager Ron Gardenhire his 900th career win. Quite an accomplishment! The Twins have now won four in a row and play the Tigers ...
  13. Saturday's Good(rum) Game Notes and Highlights

    by , 07-01-2012 at 12:46 AM (SethSpeaks.net)
The Twins got some great pitching on Saturday and won both games of a split double-header against the Kansas City Royals. In the first game, the Twins won 7-2 and Scott Diamond worked eight innings for the Win. In the second game, it was Cole DeVries who was promoted and who recorded his second big league win with a terrific performance. Of course, he was immediately optioned back to Rochester following the game.

There was a lot going on in the Twins system on Saturday. I had the opportunity ...
  14. Sunday Game Notes

    by , 06-25-2012 at 10:50 AM (SethSpeaks.net)
The Twins had arguably their most exciting game of the season. In many ways, it was the 2012 positives that got it done. Trevor Plouffe hit a home run. Scott Diamond pitched great. And then the big blast off the bat of Josh Willingham that proved to be the game-winner. Of course, you can add to that an incredible plate appearance by Joe Mauer off of flame-throwing Aroldis Chapman to set up the Willingham homer. Jared Burton made it interesting but pitched out of a jam for the save. And now the ...
