  1. Are the Twins a .500 club?

by , 05-14-2013 at 07:27 AM (North Dakota Twins Fan)
    Spring Training - Game 10 - vs NYY - 3/11/12-josh-willingham-justin-morneau-minnesota-twins.jpg
It's getting close to the end of the first fourth of the season and the Twins are still flirting with the .500 mark. There is a lot of baseball left to play but it has been an encouraging first portion of the season for Twins fans. Some surprise pitching performances, a good offense and a stingy bullpen have the club in range of the top of the division.

So how did this Twins team get here and is this pace sustainable for the remainder of the season? ...
  2. Wha Happened? #1 (v.s. Tigers)

by , 04-05-2013 at 06:26 AM (Peanuts from Heaven)
In an effort to keep my blogging on a more consistent time-line, I have decided that rather than writing when the mood strikes me (or when I sigh dispiritedly at my inactivity), I will try to post short recaps of each series after they wrap up--this way I have a regular time to write and a consistent subject to write about.

Of course, while lots of people will tell you what happened, only we Peanuts can tell you what happened...in our imagination!

  3. Can Ron Gardenhire survive a slow start?

by , 04-02-2013 at 06:52 AM (North Dakota Twins Fan)
The last two Aprils have been rough for Twins Territory. Slow starts out of the gate meant the club would only accumulate single digit wins in 2011 and 2012. As fans know, the team never recovered from those slow starts and Minnesota finished at the bottom of the American League for two consecutive years.

It's a new year and the Twins are hoping not to repeat the slow starts of the last two season. For some people, there is plenty riding on the start by the Twins. Ron Gardenhire is ...
  4. 2013 Minnesota Twins Awards Preview

by , 03-28-2013 at 06:55 AM (North Dakota Twins Fan)
The Twins might be destined to finish at the bottom of the AL Central but there can still be some standout stars on a mediocre club. Every year it is fun to put on a prediction hat to try and figure out who will have the best season. This can be tough to do with injuries and other uncertainties.

It has been prediction week here at NoDak Twins Fan. This means a look at the National League, the American League, and a close up view of the AL Central. Most of these predictions are likely ...
  5. Friday Links-N-Thinks

by , 03-22-2013 at 06:50 AM (North Dakota Twins Fan)
It is hard to imagine that this time last year there were temperatures in the 70s or higher for parts of Twins Territory. There are only a handful of days left until Opening Day and there seems be plenty of snow left on the ground. Fans in North Dakota and northern Minnesota are still digging out of the most recent blizzard and it's hard to believe baseball is only a few days away.

The World Baseball Classic wrapped up in the middle of the week so most players are back in camp for ...

It’s been so long since we’ve seen Justin Morneau at his best, it’s easy to forget what “his best” even looked like. In the two-and-a-half seasons since his fateful concussion in Toronto, Morneau has shown only the occasion glimpse of elite hitting ability. Beyond the lingering effects of the head injury, ...
  7. Morneau, Plouffe set up to surprise

The corner infield positions for any club can be an important part of a team's offensive picture. Power hitters usually occupy these two positions and it helps to be competent on the defensive side of the ball. First basemen and third basemen can former the cornerstone of a franchise and they are important positions for the future of the club.

Minnesota has basically had one first baseman for the great part of the last decade. On the other hand, third ...

Rumors have been swirling about the possibility of the return of Jim Thome to the Minnesota Twins. There are plenty of different things floating out there so let's try and organize some of these thoughts. Here is some of the information that is known to the public.

Thome, the 42-year old slugger, is still unemployed and he wants to find a team to play for in 2013. Over the past couple seasons, Thome has been looking to play for a contender so he could ...
  10. What will Willingham do for an encore?

by , 02-26-2013 at 06:52 AM (North Dakota Twins Fan)
One of the biggest surprises in the 2012 season was the performance of Josh Willingham. The veteran outfielder signed a free agent deal with the club before the season and he went on to have the best offensive campaign of his career. He led the Twins in a variety of offensive categories including home runs, RBI, and slugging percentage.

After a season that stands out like Willingham's, there can be some questions about whether he will be able to replicate his fantastic numbers. The ...
  11. Should there be a Morneau contract controversy?

by , 02-20-2013 at 07:20 AM (North Dakota Twins Fan)
When Twins position players reported to camp at the end of last week, Justin Morneau was one of the first people that the media hunted down. There was good reason to do this since he is in the last year of his contract with the club and his future is unclear at this point.

According to Morneau, there haven't been any discussions about an extension between his agent and the club. This means that he is anticipating playing out the rest of his contract and testing the free agent market ...

by , 02-15-2013 at 07:17 AM (North Dakota Twins Fan)
    It's official.

Twins position players are required to report to Fort Myers today. The team's first official workout will be held tomorrow morning. Quite a few of the players have already reported for duty and have been taking part in informal workouts.

The road to the Opening Day 2013 officially starts now and it's time to get the bad taste out of their mouths from the last two seasons. This could be quite the challenge with the roster that has been compiled by the front ...

  14. Chris Parmelee is primed for breakout season

by , 01-30-2013 at 07:10 AM (North Dakota Twins Fan)
As the beginning of the season approaches, there can be a lot of focus thrown on different players for each team. Some fans will focus on starting pitching and other fans will look at the top players in the line-up. There are usually some players that sneak under the radar before putting together a very good season for the club.

Last year, the Twins signed Josh Willingham and there wasn't a whole lot of buzz around him at the beginning of the year. Most fans were worried about the ...
