The middle of June has come and gone and there is no sign of Kyle Gibson in the Twin Cities. Teams like the Rays and the Mets are calling up top prospects like Wil Myers and Zack Wheeler because the deadline has passed for players to qualify for Super Two status. This means the Rays and Mets can control these high level players for a big chunk of the next decade. Gibson has a different story than some other players. The former first round pick entered the Twins system ...

At the end of last week, the Twins added some strong talent to their organization through the MLB Draft. Minnesota's farm system was already considered one of the best in baseball and having another top 5 pick can only help to improve their top level talent. My last prospect ranking came back when I was helping to put together the "Minnesota Twins Prospect Handbook." There have been a few changes to the list as players begin to move closer to the ...
After going 5-3 on a recent eight game road trip against the Charlotte Knights (White Sox) and Gwinnett Braves (Braves), the Rochester Red Wings returned home this weekend to play four games against the Toledo Mud Hens (Tigers). After dropping the opener 8-1 last night, the Wings were hoping Kyle Gibson would be able to get them back on their winning ways. Entering today’s game with a record of 5-5 in 12 starts so far this season; Gibson had ...
It was a rough week for the Twins with nine straight losses. The club hasn't won a game since May 13th. Two fifths of the starting rotation was replaced including sending down Opening Day starter Vance Worley. Even on a night where Josh Willingham hits two home runs, the club still can't find a way to win. Minnesota does have two of the best team's in all of the minor leagues. This can make it fun to dream about the future. Miguel Sano and Byron Buxton could turn into monster MLB players. ...
It's getting close to the end of the first fourth of the season and the Twins are still flirting with the .500 mark. There is a lot of baseball left to play but it has been an encouraging first portion of the season for Twins fans. Some surprise pitching performances, a good offense and a stingy bullpen have the club in range of the top of the division. So how did this Twins team get here and is this pace sustainable for the remainder of the season? ...

At 14-20, the Rochester Red Wings are substantially better than they were two weeks ago. After a 2-11 start, the Red Wings have gone 12-9 in their last 21 games, and after facing the top tier teams in the International league to start the year, it was finally time for Rochester to play teams they have had success against in years past. First Stop Columbus Rochester began the road trip by going to Columbus to play a four game series ...

At the end of last season, things must have been a little tense around the Ron Gardenhire household. The Twins were coming off of back-to-back 90-loss seasons and Gardenhire only had one season left on his current contract. It was inevitable for some changes to take place and almost all of Gardy's coaching staff would not be hired back or would be reassigned. The sporting world can be cruel when a team isn't performing well on the field. Twins fans weren't used to this kind of shake-up ...
After finishing an eight game home stand at 3-5, the Rochester Red Wings took the short trip up the New York Thruway to Syracuse to play the Chiefs (Nationals). Last season the Red Wings won just three games in Syracuse, something that they would match in their first trip to NBT Bank Stadium. The Bats Come Alive In their four game series against the Chiefs, Rochester scored 31 runs on 50 hits. ...
The Twins actually got to get all of their games in so far this week. Monday's game with the Marlins had to be moved to Tuesday as part of a doubleheader but this was a step in the right direction after multiple cancellations last week. Texas is in town for the weekend and it sounds like the weather is actually going to start feeling like spring. Highs will continue to rise and hopefully the Twins can continue to play baseball around the .500 mark. The weekend is almost ...
Entering his fourth professional season, Rochester Red Wings pitcher Kyle Gibson is hopeful that this is the year he gets his chance to pitch in Minnesota. Currently listed as Baseball America’s #68 ranked prospect in their 2013 Top 100 Prospect list, and #5 on their organizational list, it’s safe to say that there are high hopes this year for the future Twins right hander. After batting practice on Monday, I had the chance to talk about his rehab, ...
Photo Courtesy of Richard Bobby Photography Coming off a dismal 1-5 road trip the Rochester Red Wings came home to start an 8 game home stand against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders (Yankees) and Pawtucket Red Sox. Coming into their game Monday against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, the Wings had lost four in a row and had been outscored 24-8 in those games. More of the Same In the four games against the Railriders ...
Opening week has come and gone, and after playing a four game home and home series against the Buffalo Bisons it’s safe to say that at 1-3, the Rochester Red Wings are not where they had hoped to be. The First Three Games In the two games in Buffalo and the home opener in Rochester offense was the biggest problem. As previously stated in Red Wings Season Preview, scoring runs was going to be tough for Rochester ...

The Twins might be destined to finish at the bottom of the AL Central but there can still be some standout stars on a mediocre club. Every year it is fun to put on a prediction hat to try and figure out who will have the best season. This can be tough to do with injuries and other uncertainties. It has been prediction week here at NoDak Twins Fan. This means a look at the National League, the American League, and a close up view of the AL Central. Most of these predictions are likely ...
After taking a break for the offseason, "Friday Links-N-Thinks" are back here at NoDak Twins Fan. For those that aren't familiar with this type of post, I will provide a bunch of different links to stories that have interested me from the last week. Some of the stories will be Twins related and others will just be interesting baseball stories. All together, it is a great way to catch-up on the baseball related news from the last week. The Twins are in the midst of spring ...
