by , Today at 05:39 PM

After spending 8 seasons, playing for four different major league organizations, as well as two independent teams, Antoan Richardson may be racing his way back to the major leagues. In AA-New Britain, Richardson showcased his speed and ability to get on base hitting .336, with 14 steals and a .456 OBP in 33 games. Since being called up to the AAA- Rochester ...

    Spring Training - Game 14 - at Phillies-frontier-field-.jpg

Rapidly approaching the midpoint of the season, the Rochester Red Wings sit just two games short of the .500 mark at 34-36 after sweeping the four game series against the Gwinnett Braves this weekend.

Currently in fourth place in the Northern division, seven games back, it seems like it was just a month ago that we were wondering what kind of season this was going to be in Rochester, so what has changed?

    Despite ...

    Spring Training - Game 14 - at Phillies-kyle-gibson-2-.jpg

After going 5-3 on a recent eight game road trip against the Charlotte Knights (White Sox) and Gwinnett Braves (Braves), the Rochester Red Wings returned home this weekend to play four games against the Toledo Mud Hens (Tigers). After dropping the opener 8-1 last night, the Wings were hoping Kyle Gibson would be able to get them back on their winning ways.

Entering today’s game with a record of 5-5 in 12 starts so far this season; Gibson had ...
  4. Rochester Recap: Vance Worley's Debut

    Valencia's #22?-vance-worley-twins-2013-optioned.jpg

When the Minnesota Twins acquired starting pitcher Vance Worley from the Philadelphia Phillies in the off-season trade involving Ben Revere, no one thought that the opening day starter would be spending Memorial Day pitching in Rochester, NY, for the Red Wings.

After a dismal 1-5 start with the Twins, an ERA over seven and a WHIP of almost two, it was no real surprise that something had to be done. The Twins are hoping that

  5. Who is Chris Colabello?

by , 05-22-2013 at 06:59 AM (North Dakota Twins Fan)
I originally posted this story back in spring training under the title "Chris Colabello continues his fairy tale." With the recent news of his promotion to the Twins, I thought it would be appropriate to move it back to the front page of this blog. I have added in some information about his season so far.
One of the best stories in the Twins organization in 2012 was the tale of a 28-year old man that got his first taste of baseball with an affiliated club. Chris Colabello had molded himself ...
  6. Who is Caleb Thielbar?

by , 05-20-2013 at 05:57 PM (North Dakota Twins Fan)
It has been quite the wild ride for Mr. Caleb J. Thielbar on his way to the major leagues.

The 26-year old left-hander was called-up by the Minnesota Twins on Monday after the team demoted fifth starter Pedro Hernandez. Thielbar is not a starter so the team will need to make another roster move before Friday's game to fill out the rotation. Options for this spot include Kyle Gibson, Sam Deduno, and PJ Walters.

Thielbar was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 18th ...

Goldstein Ranked the Twins' system 22nd-deduno_55_vtcjs8n5_isipj0uz.jpg

Entering his 10th professional season, it’s safe to say that 2012 was his best year in Samuel Deduno’s career thus far. Not only did Deduno end the year in the Minnesota Twins rotation, but he also had the opportunity to pitch for the Dominican Republic, his home country, in the World Baseball Classic.

Originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Colorado Rockies in 2003, 19 year old Samuel Deduno was on the road to pursuing his dream ...
  8. Contemplating Cole De Vries

AL Central Position Rankings - First Base-cole-de-vries.jpg
On Wednesday night in Rochester, New York, Cole De Vries will take the mound for the Red Wings in what could be his final rehab start before being taken off the disable list. The right-handed hurler has been dealing with a strain on the outer part of his forearm and he has yet to appear in a game for the Twins this season.

De Vries is an interesting player in the Twins system. Last season, he was finally rewarded for his time and dedication to the ...

    First Spring Training Cuts cometh...-_dsc38810045.jpg

At 14-20, the Rochester Red Wings are substantially better than they were two weeks ago. After a 2-11 start, the Red Wings have gone 12-9 in their last 21 games, and after facing the top tier teams in the International league to start the year, it was finally time for Rochester to play teams they have had success against in years past.

    Article: Projected Twins Roster-frontier-field-.jpg

After finishing an eight game home stand at 3-5, the Rochester Red Wings took the short trip up the New York Thruway to Syracuse to play the Chiefs (Nationals). Last season the Red Wings won just three games in Syracuse, something that they would match in their first trip to NBT Bank Stadium.

In their four game series against the Chiefs, Rochester scored 31 runs on 50 hits. ...

Article: Cardinals 3, Twins 2: The Hits Keep on Not Coming-kyle-gibson-2-.jpg

Entering his fourth professional season, Rochester Red Wings pitcher Kyle Gibson is hopeful that this is the year he gets his chance to pitch in Minnesota. Currently listed as Baseball America’s #68 ranked prospect in their 2013 Top 100 Prospect list, and #5 on their organizational list, it’s safe to say that there are high hopes this year for the future Twins right hander. After batting practice on Monday, I had the chance to talk about his rehab, ...

Coming off a dismal 1-5 road trip the Rochester Red Wings came home to start an 8 game home stand against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders (Yankees) and Pawtucket Red Sox. Coming into their game Monday against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, the Wings had lost four in a row and had been outscored 24-8 in those games.

  13. Arcia's ascension could mean Willingham's exit

by , 04-17-2013 at 07:01 AM (North Dakota Twins Fan)
With the Twins up and down start to the year, it is hard to know if the team will be buyers or sellers at the trade deadline. Most likely the team will be selling. There will be plenty of talk about Justin Morneau being dealt in the coming months since his contract is up at the end of the year. Another important name to watch out for in the hot stove reports is Josh Willingham.

Willingham is coming off his best season and there might be more than one team looking to add a powerful ...

After spending eight seasons playing baseball in the Independent leagues, Chris Colabello finally was given the opportunity to play for a major league affiliate. Last year in New Britain, Colabello turned some heads hitting .284 with 19 home runs and 98 RBI’s. So far in Rochester it has been more of the same, hitting .395 with 4 home runs and 6 RBI’s and was named the IL player of the ...
