  1. Twins/Red Sox (Games 28-31)

    Twins at Red Sox

Too Old for the Gang at Cheers (Game 28)

Home early, with my wife home as well, I started getting a hankering for watching the Twins play at a sports bar. Baseball’s just a little bit better when you’re covered in buffalo sauce and ordering another beer.

Except it was Monday. And I’m old. And wings plus beer plus anything else starts to add up to be a decent chunk of change. Don’t get me started on the calories, either. Plus, then you’re ...
  2. Ryan Doumit doing damage

ID:	4036On Saturday, May 4, Ryan Doumit, at .203, was not even hitting his weight. With a slugging percentage of .291 to boot, the Minnesota Twins’ switch-hitting catcher/DH was a few nights of binge eating hot wings from matching that number as well. As a regular guest of manager Ron Gardenhire’s vital fifth spot in the batting order, Doumit’s woes directly impacted the team’s offense. An offense, which had concluded April with just 92 runs scored – ahead of only the Chicago ...
  3. The Rise of Josmil Pinto

    by , 05-08-2013 at 09:33 PM
Contrary to what is implied here, I can report that Josmil Pinto DOES
indeed know how to wear his tools of ignorance
Twins catchers. There's Joe Mauer. Then a big, big gap. Sure, Ryan Doumit can technically sit there and intercept a pitch before it hits the umpire. But

  4. Correia and Doumit: A Bad Pitcher-Catcher Combo

by , 05-08-2013 at 08:17 PM (Anorthagen's Twins Daily Blogs)

Remember back in 2011 when the Twins didn't have Ryan Doumit? Or Kevin Correia? The good old days some would say....but not many. After that horrendous 2011 season for the Twins, Ryan Doumit finished had his career as a Pittsburgh Pirate and was looking for a possible new home. In that season he played 77 games (in 60 of

  5. Arcia's ascension could mean Willingham's exit

by , 04-17-2013 at 07:01 AM (North Dakota Twins Fan)
With the Twins up and down start to the year, it is hard to know if the team will be buyers or sellers at the trade deadline. Most likely the team will be selling. There will be plenty of talk about Justin Morneau being dealt in the coming months since his contract is up at the end of the year. Another important name to watch out for in the hot stove reports is Josh Willingham.

Willingham is coming off his best season and there might be more than one team looking to add a powerful ...
  6. Game 7 - Royally Terrified.

    by , 04-08-2013 at 08:59 PM
I caught the beginning of the Twins/Royals game on my car radio. I parked to catch the first pitch and enjoy shivering memories of watching the Evil Dead remake in the theater.

The movie was good, and I finally experienced my horror lover's no-hitter: I watched a scary movie in a theater all by myself. That's right - in a theater devoid of all other human beings.

That's a good'n to watch solo, too. If the creepy noises don't get you squirming, the over-the-top gore will ...
  7. Our Minnesota Twins (Part 2)

by , 03-20-2013 at 07:40 AM (Peanuts from Heaven)
Continuing our series that aims to answer the question "who the heck is that guy?" [both here and on our other blog]: we're here to tell you about prominent Twins, and we'll do it in the most Minnesotan way we know how: by providing you facts (player's background), fiction (the alternate background we used to dream up the photoshop), fandom (ways to cheer for them) and flattery (less positive cheers, aka Minnesota "Nice" comments)

    Let's get started!

  8. Drew Butera and the cost of a third catcher

by , 03-19-2013 at 06:46 AM (North Dakota Twins Fan)
The addition of free agent Ryan Doumit during last offseason raised an interesting question for the Twins. Should the club carry a third catcher? Joe Mauer was coming off an injury-plagued year and it seemed like the club might need a little insurance with the big league squad.

If Mauer and Doumit were in the line-up on the same day, the team could run into some problems without an extra catcher. There is a chance the team could lose the designated hitter spot or the club could be ...
  9. Making a Thome Plan

Article: Two (Bad) Innings Topple the Twins in Loss to Red Sox-jim-thome-minnesota-twins.jpg
Rumors have been swirling about the possibility of the return of Jim Thome to the Minnesota Twins. There are plenty of different things floating out there so let's try and organize some of these thoughts. Here is some of the information that is known to the public.

Thome, the 42-year old slugger, is still unemployed and he wants to find a team to play for in 2013. Over the past couple seasons, Thome has been looking to play for a contender so he could ...

  11. Twins still have things to be thankful for

by , 11-21-2012 at 10:20 AM (North Dakota Twins Fan)
It's the day before Thanksgiving and the beginning of next baseball season still seems far away. The offseason hasn't really gotten off to a thrilling start for the Twins. This means that fans will continue to wait for the club to make some kind of move to improve this team.

When families gather around their table tomorrow, some will spend time discussing the things they are thankful for in the past year. This could include being thankful for good health, a new baby, or a marriage ...
  12. Former Twins Position Players Fill Free Agent Market

by , 11-07-2012 at 07:29 AM (North Dakota Twins Fan)
There are plenty of players looking for big free agent money and a half dozen position players on the market have spent time playing for the Minnesota Twins. There are some key pieces to former teams and some other role players mixed in the bunch. A couple of these players are coming off one of their best seasons as a professional but it looks like age might be a factor.

The Twins have a variety of needs this offseason, such as starting pitching and middle infield depth. With those ...

It's Election Day across our great country and this means people should be getting out and casting their votes. Be informed about the choices you are making and help to decide the future of our country. One of the best parts about today is there won't be any more political ads on TV or the radio. Thank the heavens.

If you are reading this post, it doesn't matter if you are a Republican or a Democrat because you are most likely a fan of the Twins. ...
  14. Waiting Impatiently For The Offseason

    by , 10-17-2012 at 10:57 PM (TwinsGeek.com)
I’m having trouble getting into the second round of the playoffs. I don’t really want either the Yankees or the Tigers to make the World Series, which means I can’t even root for the American League. The official team of The Voice Of Reason™ - the Phillies – is also out for the first time in years. But part of it is because I’m ready for the next act.

    The offseason.

Oddly, I don’t think I’ve looked forward to an offseason this much in years. For starters, it’ll be nice ...
