The New Year generally brings with it new beginnings. As we enter into a new year of Twins baseball, I can’t help but think Twins Manager Ron Gardenhire might be a little concerned about a new beginning in his future. For the first time in his decade-plus tenure as manager, Gardenhire will enter the 2013 season without a contract extension in place that carries him beyond the coming year.

    Following ...

ID:	2627The Rays, possessing a glut of quality starting pitchers and seeking an outfielder who can be an asset at the top of the order, have been pointed at frequently around here as a logical trade partner for the Twins. The Offseason Handbook specifically calls out James Shields and Wade Davis as potential targets in Tampa's pitching corps, and there are several other names that hold appeal.

According to reports, the Rays hurler drawing the most interest is Jeremy ...

ID:	2575At a glance, one would think that Minnesota's power output this year was well above the norm. Josh Willingham launched 35 bombs and fellow newcomer Ryan Doumit chipped in 18. Trevor Plouffe's 24 were a pleasant surprise, as were Justin Morneau's 19. Even Joe Mauer delivered 10 long balls – just his third time reaching double digits.

Despite all of those big power performances, the Twins tied with the Royals for fewest home runs in the American League. While ...

ID:	1702When the news came down this weekend that the Twins had traded Francisco Liriano to the White Sox for a pair of middling 23-year-old prospects, the reaction around here was understandably negative. The same questions echoed in the minds of fans across the state.

Why did the Twins deal Liriano in the wake of his worst start of the season?

Why did they back away from their stated goal of adding young, high-upside talent?

    And why – ...

  5. Revere and Span

    by , 05-24-2012 at 04:19 AM
It's been a little over a quarter into the season and the Twins seemed destined to be sellers come July 31st. Unsurprisingly, many contenders are more than certain to inquire about the availability of Denard Span. Bidding for the center fielder could very well be competive as it is a position of need for quite a few division leaders. One of the biggest decisions the organization will have to make is whether or not they want to accept a deal for him. The biggest factor in the choice could possibly ...
  6. Span to Nats?

    by , 05-10-2012 at 10:23 AM
The Denard to the Nationals rumors refuse to die, and with the Twins looking like they will not be competing in the next 2-3 years. I think maximizing Spans trade value and dealing him in the next month might be the right thing to do.

Now what type of package could we expect to get from Washington has been of of much debate among fans. I have seen some suggest that anything less the Jordan Zimmerman is a deal breaker and others who have clamored we still look for a package revolving ...
