It was Revenge of the Former Twins in Tuesday night’s Twins/White Sox game. Francisco Liriano got through six innings and gave up just two runs. Jesse Crain relieved him for a scoreless inning. And, AJ Pierzynski hit the big two-run homer in the top of the ninth off of Jeff Gray, and that was it. The Twins tried to come back, scoring one run in the bottom of the ninth, but Addison Reed closed out the 4-3 win for the White Sox. Denard Span had a four-hit game. Here is a look at the ...
For what seems like the 100th time, the Twins are taking their time deciding whether or not a player should be put on the disabled list. Trevor Plouffe has an injury to his thumb and he has missed five consecutive games as he tries to recover. He tried to work out over the last couple of days and it sounds like gripping and swinging the bat have been tough ...
The Twins needed a couple of extra innings to earn a 2-1 win in Kansas City against the Royals. It was a terrific game for Darin Mastroianni who hit a solo homer and a triple. Josh Willingham drove in Joe Mauer in the 11th inning with what proved to be the winning run. The two teams will play at 6:00 central time on Saturday. It was a good day for the organization. The teams went 5-2 on the day. Oswaldo Arcia had a huge game, yet it was very difficult to decide who should be the hitter ...
The Twins had a rough weekend series with the A’s, so on Monday night they picked on another vowel, the O’s. The Twins scored seven runs in the first inning and kept on adding on their way to a 19-7 win over Baltimore. Scott Diamond wasn’t in finest form after a ten day break since his last start, but he did go six innings for the Win. Justin Morneau had four hits, extending his hit streak to 14 games. That is the same hit streak that Trevor Plouffe has as well after he had two hits. Ben Revere ...
The Twins had arguably their most exciting game of the season. In many ways, it was the 2012 positives that got it done. Trevor Plouffe hit a home run. Scott Diamond pitched great. And then the big blast off the bat of Josh Willingham that proved to be the game-winner. Of course, you can add to that an incredible plate appearance by Joe Mauer off of flame-throwing Aroldis Chapman to set up the Willingham homer. Jared Burton made it interesting but pitched out of a jam for the save. And now the ...
The Twins started their three-game series at The Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati against the Reds with a 5-4 win. Ben Revere and Ryan Doumit each had four hits, and the Twins got another four shutout innings from their bullpen to hold the win for Nick Blackburn who went the first five innings. Here is a look at the Twins minor league scores and highlights from Friday: ROCHESTER 3, CHARLOTTE 0 The Red Wings recorded their sixth shutout of the season on ...
Jaynesville, WI - The Twins were in Cleveland on Saturday night and won 7-4. They jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one inning thanks to RBI singles by Joe Mauer, Justin Morneau and Trevor Plouffe. Cleveland clawed back with single runs in the first, third, fourth and fifth to tie the game. However, Plouffe’s sixth home run of the season made it 5-4 after six, and Mauer’s third home run, a two-run shot, gave the Twins their 7-4. PJ Walters started and his string of quality starts came to an end. He ...
The Twins lost again, this time to the Tigers. They scored six runs on ten hits which should be enough most of the time. Unfortunately, Anthony Swarzak wasn’t feeling well and it showed. He gave up six runs and didn’t get through the fourth inning. Francisco Liriano gave up four more runs without completing three innings. Denard Span had three hits including two doubles, but it just wasn’t enough. Ron Gardenhire was ejected moments after Jamey Carroll was ejected for the first time ...
The Twins lost to the Yankees and CC Sabathia on Tuesday night, but there was plenty to talk about in the minor league system. A Japanese import had a big game. An MVP from independent ball had a second straight big game. The Snappers played two, and the big man from the Dominican launched home run #5 on the young season, to keep up with Josh Willingham for the organizational lead! The minor leagues finished the day 3-2. Here is a look at the Twins minor league games from Tuesday and even more ...
Original Post from North Dakota Twins Fan ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It felt good to get back to a full week of Twins coverage here at NoDak Twins Fan and after my vacation in Arizona it was great to get caught up on all of the happenings across Twins Territory. We are only a few short weeks away from baseball being played under the sun at Target Field. It will be a welcome sight to see the hometown nine take the field for the first time and for the memories of an awful 2011 to go away. ...

After sending Tsuyoshi Nishioka to Rochester, many fans began to think that Brian Dozier may have done enough this spring to entice the powers that be to include him on the major league roster. On Tuesday, manager Ron Gardenhire squelched that notion. According to the Star Tribune’s Joe Christensen’s tweet which paraphrased Gardenhire’s comments on the situation, the Twins will not be bringing Dozier northward but rather sending him to Rochester to start ...
Original post from North Dakota Twins Fan ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The biggest story of the week so far in regards to the Twins was the club abandoning their Japanese experiment by demoting Tsuyoshi Nishioka to Rochester for the start of the 2012 season. Going into last season the Twins thought Nishioka could be their starting shortstop for the foreseeable future and the team invested $14 million to bring him to the United States. This experiment turned out to ...
Manager Ron Gardenhire wanted him up in the big leagues last summer. Teammates praise his leadership as well as his ability to do anything and everything needed with the bat. Pitchers love when he is playing shortstop behind them. How can Brian Dozier make the Twins Opening Day Roster? There are many things going against Dozier this spring, at least in terms of making the opening day roster. The biggest thing he has going for him is his play and his personality. Let’s ...
It was a fun week for Twins fans as the first spring training games of the season were broadcast on television. This gave people their first view of the players who will comprise the roster of the 2012 version of the Twins. One of the fun things about spring training games is that a variety of fringe members for the 25-man roster are fighting for their chance to make it to the big leagues. Some players will succeed and others will fail but that is part of life as a professional baseball player. ...
