All good things must come to a end. Oswaldo Arcia has been demoted back down to AAA today, after the one-hitter thrown by Anaibal Sanchez. During his a little over a months stay in the Major leagues, he hit .263 an OPS. Of .372 (4th best on the team might i add) along with 4 home runs and 14 RBIs. Much better then any other Twins rookie or second year player. Yet he gets demoted back down to the minors only because the Twins are in desperate need of pitching. In which P.J. Walters ...

With the Twin not having a win in over week, it was obvious there was a need for change. The first change came earlier this week with the long over due demotion of Pedro Hernandez to AAA. Only to bring up a iffy pitcher in Samuel Deduno who excelled in the WBC, while allowing one too many walks per 9 innings. The other change, came more as a surprise to me, coming yesterday on Wednesday, demoting Vance Worly to AAA. At first this move didn't make any sense, knowing that the ...
Remember back in 2011 when the Twins didn't have Ryan Doumit? Or Kevin Correia? The good old days some would say....but not many. After that horrendous 2011 season for the Twins, Ryan Doumit finished had his career as a Pittsburgh Pirate and was looking for a possible new home. In that season he played 77 games (in 60 of ...
After two straight 90+ loss seasons and a cool start to 2013, a lot of attention has shifted to the Twins promising stockpile of prospects. Plenty has been written about top prospect Miguel Sano and last year's 2nd overall pick Byron Buxton, but this post will take a look at a lesser known "prospect" in 29 year old Chris Colabello. At this time last year, I had never heard of Colabello. In fact, it wasn't until the Twins fell out of contention and I started aggressively following minor ...
The Twins got an excellent outing from free-agent pick-up Kevin Correia, who worked into the 8th inning. Unfortunately, the Royals strung a few hits together and were able to chase Correia after taking a 3-1 lead. The Twins failed to rally in the 9th and lost their 3rd “Home Opener” of the season. (But remain undefeated in non-Home Openers.) Three of the club’s affiliates were in action this evening. Let’s take a look… Rochester ...
The Twins just got back over .500 (again) while a top prospect is starting to heat up. Attachment 3681 There was a lot going on in the minor leagues today. You can read about it and catch up (or comment) here. After taking in three Kernels games in Cedar Rapids, Seth is driving back to reality tonight. So I'm pinch-writing. Like any back-of-the-rotation starter, you'll have to put up with me once (and sometimes twice) a week. I'm ...
Opening Day is a few weeks away, and Twins fans still don't have an exact idea of what the lineup will look like when the Twins take the field. Many people have been discussing their Opening Day roster projections. I wanted to put this on the record so that I could say "I told you so". Starting Lineup CF. Aaron Hicks 2B. Brian Dozier C. Joe Mauer LF. Josh Willingham 1B. Justin Morneau ...
Most baseball fan’s favorite part of spring training is projecting your teams opening day roster. With new free agent acquisitions and minor leaguers with dreams of making it to the show, both players and fans are excited to get things going. Halfway through spring training do we really know more now than we did 3 weeks ago about projecting the opening day roster? With more rounds of cuts on the way and the possibility of signing another player, or two, there are a variety of ...
I've liked Cory Provus from day one. The man calls a good ballgame. He doesn't oversell the drama. He sounds like baseball ought to. Since I've permanently ditched cable for the radio, I've been spending a lot more time listening to Mr. Provus. My opinion hasn't changed. However, I've begun to notice something. He's funny. He's really funny. He isn't flashy about it. He's not about loud voices, zingers, or crazy stories. I can't quote ...
While I was moping behind my snowblower, I noticed an unusual formation of snow. I turned off the machine and stepped closer to it. The identify of those piles of snow became clear. You've seen them before, too. They're the smiling, handshaking baseball players whose image lights up when Twins players hit home runs. The players looked at me as if they were waiting for me to speak. "Who will these 2013 Twins be?" I asked. "Who can I cheer for? Who can I believe ...
Weather reports tell me something wicked this way comes. I've got two gallons of gas for the snowblower and just enough left in my own tank to dig out from this one. Downtown, Target Field better be ready. Come April, we're all coming over to watch the game. With the weather waiting to pummel us yet again, how many of us are imagining a Wintery Wasteland Opening Day nightmare? Ever since they announced the stadium, the truly pessimistic of have smirked small, bitter smirks ...
I think Twins magic begins with a car radio, a commute of erratic, skidding traffic, and staring at the sun while waiting for red lights. Returning to baseball life is a greater gift to the fans living in places where the offseason is covered in snow and loneliness. When the bat cracks and the crowd cheers, we know the small city filled with red- and blue-clad fans will be born around Target Field. There will be beer, hugs, and shouting. At that moment, the ...
The Twins manager, Ron Gardenhire, offered a neat bit of understanding on Tuesday night as he changed Minnesota’s tactics this Spring Training to give Justin Morneau chance to practice his national role before joining up with Team Canada’s for the World Baseball Classic. Gardenhire confirmed designated hitter, Morneau, would instead start Tuesday’s game against the Blue Jays at first base – his preferred position with the Canada side. The reason: to give Morneau ...
The Rochester Red Wings finished the 2012 season with a 72-72 record. I know that doesn't seem impressive, but when you haven’t reached that mark since 2008 and suffered back to back 90 loss seasons in 2010 and ’11, it’s a step in the right direction. There was a buzz about the ball park Friday. General Manager Dan Mason said that he was “very excited” about the 2013 season, and why shouldn't he be? The team is heading in the right direction, ...
