  • Series Preview: Twins @ Orioles, 4/5

The Twins surprised many over their opening homestand by taking two of three from the Detroit Tigers behind solid pitching efforts and inconsistent offense. They look to continue that pitching production as they head to Baltimore for their first road trip of the season, a three game set against the Orioles.

Justin Morneau has been an offensive bright spot for the team, going 4-for-10 with 3 BB in the opening series. In yesterday's 8-2 win over the Tigers, even Parmelee and Hicks contributed, with the latter picking up his first Major League hit in the 5 run eighth inning.

Just three games into the season, the Twins are already patching together a starting rotation, with Opening Day starter Vance Worley jumping ahead of the fifth starter, Cole De Vries, and pitching Saturday against Orioles starter Chris Tillman. With De Vries feeling tightness in his forearm during a bullpen session, his start has been pushed back a day. The Twins also look to the return of lefty Scott Diamond, who is returning from a December surgery to remove bone chips from his pitching arm and expects to return to the rotation sometime mid-month.

I was pulling for Lew Ford to make the roster.

So, let's keep on the winning track today, we've got the mo.

Let's just hope the Twins don't make Arrieta look like an All-Star like they did in the opener last year. Good start so far, Twins. I really am pulling for Hendriks to figure it out this year. I think we have a pretty good idea of what the first three pitchers are going to give us this year, but Hendriks is the wild card in the rotation.

Won't have to face Chen or Gonzalez, that's a good start already

Glad to see Escobar get the start. Florimon already has 2 errors. He makes some spectacular plays and blows routine ones - lack of concentration, fine instinctive play.

Hopefully we slaughter Tillman again tomorrow. We got seven runs off him in the first inning last year, and he didn't even finish the inning.

After the walk off... Escobar deserves the start... After the throwing yips by Florimon... He deserves a day off.

Calling a Morneau bomb today. A good game by Escobar today and Pedro will be feeling some pressure.

That was a really ugly AB by Hicks.

The ump is flashing an (in)consistent zone thus far. Willingham gets a ball and then a strike on identical pitches.

I can't remember, does Hendriks have a slider?

I don't get it. You are given a strike call on a 2 seamer off the plate and come back with a 4 seam right down the middle. Locate.

No, surely we would have seen it by now.
