  • Series Preview: Twins @ Orioles, 4/5

The Twins surprised many over their opening homestand by taking two of three from the Detroit Tigers behind solid pitching efforts and inconsistent offense. They look to continue that pitching production as they head to Baltimore for their first road trip of the season, a three game set against the Orioles.

Justin Morneau has been an offensive bright spot for the team, going 4-for-10 with 3 BB in the opening series. In yesterday's 8-2 win over the Tigers, even Parmelee and Hicks contributed, with the latter picking up his first Major League hit in the 5 run eighth inning.

Just three games into the season, the Twins are already patching together a starting rotation, with Opening Day starter Vance Worley jumping ahead of the fifth starter, Cole De Vries, and pitching Saturday against Orioles starter Chris Tillman. With De Vries feeling tightness in his forearm during a bullpen session, his start has been pushed back a day. The Twins also look to the return of lefty Scott Diamond, who is returning from a December surgery to remove bone chips from his pitching arm and expects to return to the rotation sometime mid-month.

Listening to the Os broadcast: Blamed Plouffe for crowding the plate, that the pitch was "barely off the plate." Interesting. I saw the ball inside the batters box or on the chalk at least.

You mean we're not the only team with home-town announcers?

Yes but he really shouldn't use it.

It's a crapshoot, what this home plate ump is going to call.

Hendriks has a good enough curve and change that he shouldn't use the slider. The slider is a huge part of his problem with RHB. Today we've already seen RHB swing and miss against the curve. I see this as a good adjustment by Liam.

Well, when you're Jeff Reboulet, I imagine it's pretty easy to crush on middle infielders with a bit of pop.

Back when Jeff Reboulet played I purchased a fantasy baseball magazine that had write ups on every player. I'll never forget Jeff's write up...Reboulet is a French word meaning "bottom of the barrel".

Doumit doesn't usually get a shift like this, does he?

Dick REALLY wants Doumit to bunt here, you can tell.

      Ugh, maybe he should have.

I maybe remember seeing it twice last year, maybe... so no.

Oof, there really is something to be said for a pitcher who can strike out a couple of guys in a row.
