  • Series Preview: Twins vs. Rangers, 4/25

One might say this is the first real test of the Twins pitching staff. The Texas Rangers, co-owners of the American League's best record at 14-7, are coming to town and the weather is finally going to warm up in the Twin Cities. Until this point, the Twins have played nearly every game of the season in horrible weather, with game-time temperatures sitting in the 30s but over the weekend, we can expect several 60 degree game starts.

How will the Twins' pitching staff hold up against the potent Rangers offense? This series could be a test of whether the Twins, sitting at 9-8 and just half a game out of first place in the American League Central, are marginal contenders in a weak division or pretenders who have received more than their fair share of luck early in the season, going 5-0 in one run games thus far in 2013.

One glimmer of hope for the Twins is that they're sending some of their best pitchers to the mound in the series: Kevin Correia, de facto 2013 ace, Vance Worley, coming off a solid start against the White Sox, and Scott Diamond, de facto 2012 ace. No matter how you look at it, this should be a tough series for the Twins.

This looks to be a tough series based on the ERA of the SP. They all have an ERA less than 3.25.

It bothers me that the Twins are giving away cowboy hats when the Rangers are in town

Dude needs to change his last name to Dervish and his first name to Whirling.

I mean, who wouldn't want that name? It's already pretty close... Yu Darvish, Wi Dervish. Pretty close but one is a hell of a lot cooler.

Yeah, and that's not even considering how effective the Rangers are at hitting the absolute snot out of the ball.

Maybe the weather will allow a respite until the Rangers cool down?

He's tipping his pitches. If I noticed a couple of pixels out of place, I'm sure the batters can too.

So, three batters up, three down. Avoided the first inning pitching jitters.

Someone from Central Michigan goes #1 in the NFL draft. Big Ten recruiters dropping the ball?

Well, CMU did go 7-6 this season, so I guess their big guy up front was doing something right.

I hope TF attendance isn't in a slump like TD attendance. Folks are missing out on the new game avatar, courtesy of Willihammer.

Another Tackle taken in the #2 spot.

Son I'd like you to play Tackle for our offense.

Offense? Tackle? Do we fumble a lot?
