  • Series Preview: Twins vs. Rangers, 4/25

One might say this is the first real test of the Twins pitching staff. The Texas Rangers, co-owners of the American League's best record at 14-7, are coming to town and the weather is finally going to warm up in the Twin Cities. Until this point, the Twins have played nearly every game of the season in horrible weather, with game-time temperatures sitting in the 30s but over the weekend, we can expect several 60 degree game starts.

How will the Twins' pitching staff hold up against the potent Rangers offense? This series could be a test of whether the Twins, sitting at 9-8 and just half a game out of first place in the American League Central, are marginal contenders in a weak division or pretenders who have received more than their fair share of luck early in the season, going 5-0 in one run games thus far in 2013.

One glimmer of hope for the Twins is that they're sending some of their best pitchers to the mound in the series: Kevin Correia, de facto 2013 ace, Vance Worley, coming off a solid start against the White Sox, and Scott Diamond, de facto 2012 ace. No matter how you look at it, this should be a tough series for the Twins.

I have yet to find a reliable one. The victory avatar disappointed in an earlier audition. I'm sticking with my starter tonight.

This Nathan guy is good. Have the Twins looked into trading for him?

Plouffe singled. I'm going on a hunch and bringing in the Snorg T girl for a rally avatar.

Dick is tangentially right about something, at least. If the guy who pinch runs for you is 39 years old, you're slow, Trevor. You're slow.

Second time this season I recall Plouffe being pinch-run for by Grandpa. Must be galling.

Even for Bremer that orgasm for a routine fly ball was embarrassing.

I knew by the look in her eye that she wasn't really going to go there. Good try though.

AJ and Nathan together celebrating the win -- just doesn't seem right. I hope that never happens again, at least in this series.

That wish could come true, as it could easily come to pass that no other game is close.

She rallied me, but unfortunately not Doumit.

Good, it wasn't just me being a sore loser. Honest to God, you'd have thought by the call that Dick was the only guy in the stadium who knew some crazy secret that a can o' corn was going to score a run, like maybe top secret Twins nano-ninjas had tied Murphy's shoe laces together.

Nobody lends utterly false drama to routine fly outs like Bremsie.

Why does this team make routine Sac Fly Balls look like an 8 year old hitting a Randy Johnson Slider?
