  • Series Preview: Twins @ Tigers, 4/29

The Twins should feel pretty good about themselves right now. Expected to finish last in the division by pretty much everyone, the team is poised to enter May with a winning record for the first time since 2010. After narrowly losing a pair of one-run games to the Rangers late last week, the Twins rallied and took the final two games of the series by a combined score of 12-2.

On the other hand, the Tigers have scuffled a bit early in 2013. Expected to dominate the AL Central, the Tigers have posted just a 12-10 record in the first month of the season and lost the opening week series to the Twins in Target Field.

While the rest of the Twins rotation seems to be turning the corner, tonight's game with Pelfrey on the mound could be telling. Pelfrey has continued to struggle after his return from Tommy John surgery and if he doesn't start showing results, the Twins could be forced to make a move if one or more of Gibson, Deduno, De Vries, or Hendriks looks to move back to the Major Leagues.

Plouffe-sie 1-1 at the plate and errorless in the field. Gardy's a motivational genius.

Second called strike to Parm was low away slider. Not called a strike for Pelf in the Vmart AB. Seriously, same exact location and pitch -- both were sliders.

Hicks has looked more confident at the plate as of late.

Twins first five batters this inning hacking at the first pitch. Bruno's working some kind of voodoo tonight?

A run from the 5-9 portion of the order. Me like.

Florimon bounces one off Scherzer's back. That might have hurt. Too bad he made a nice recovery to throw him out.

Hicks now tied with Dozier and Mauer for 3rd on the team with 8 RBI. Seems hard to believe.

Smart coaching when going against a strike out pitcher.

Watching the Tigers b'cast. "Pace of game" with Pelfrey on the mound is the current topic of discussion.

Florimon dropped an easy ball but threw a flame to get the runner. Pelfrey out of the inning without a baserunner. Whatever voodoo Brunansky is workin'...I like.

Dierks with a home run. What are the odds that Pelfrey gave up a homer, and it was a solo shot???

I did not realize that the game was starting so early, but we have to be pleased with the score so far, correct?
