• Series Preview: Twins @ Braves, 5/20-5/22

Well, the expected has arrived: the Minnesota Twins starting rotation has begun to implode and the bats have gone silent in response.

Losers of five straight while being outscored 33-14 in those matchups, the Twins head back out on the road and face the Atlanta Braves, owners of a 12-5 record at Turner Field and the 6th-best staff ERA in baseball.

Don't expect things to get easier any time soon, Twins fans.

Yes, and Smalley dinged him for it by speculating that he might have been safe if he'd run through the bag. So that was good.

Nice job by Cy Correia to hang in there after the bad first inning.

Through 4 innings Correia has got to 2 strikes on a batter 9 times. 0 strikeouts, 4 hits, 2 flyouts, 2 groundouts and a sac bunt.

I only pleaded for it cuz Teheran has been hell on that inside corner for righties and outside corner for lefties... I didn't think he was gonna come in on Joe.

Correia done after 4. 1 walk and 0 K's. So close to a quality start in the Andy handbook.

Well, seeing as how the Twins punted this season in November, I don't feel quite as bad for rooting for Correia to fail. I have a slim hope that it may teach the Twins a lesson in what to do with their money.

Yes, Gandalf, a fool's hope. But a hope nonetheless.

DeVries may not be coming up to the big club. He got tagged... Colabello playing RF and hits HR #12. Buxton hits his 7th.

Had an uncle who tried that, but my aunt made him stay at a special hotel that helps sleepy people wake up. Proceed with caution, if at all.

I envy even that hope, since mine ended in a steaming pile of Nick Blackburn.

Bed Sores would be a serious concern. Not to mention the feeding tube and catheter.

There was no way of knowing that adding a plethora of Blackburn clones would end up badly.

Sadly, a plethora of Blackburn clones would look pretty good by comparison right now. In three of his last four years as a Twin, he'd be the Twins second best starter right now, and most likely would finish the year better than Corriea will.

Yes, folks, it's that GD bad. I long for the good ol' days of Nick Blackburn.
