Minnesota Twins News & Rumors Forum
  • Gibson Gets the Call

The news came from Twins PR Director Dustin Morse following Sunday's win in Cleveland. Kyle Gibson will be promoted to the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday and will make his major league debut on Saturday at Target Field. Sunday's winning pitcher, Pedro Hernandez, was sent back to Triple-A.

Gibson has been a big conversation piece for Twins fans throughout the season. There has been his recovery from Tommy John surgery. There is talk of an innings limit. There has been talk of Consistency. All the rumor and speculation can end now with Gibson getting the call.

In Rochester, he has made 15 starts. He is 7-5 with a 3.01 ERA. In 92.2 innings, he has given up 78 hits, walked 29 and struck out 79. He was very inconsistent through the season's first ten starts, alternating good and bad starts. Since then, aside from one clunker, he has been terrific.

The Kyle Gibson Era is about to start, and Twins fans should be excited.

There's a good chance that rotation would be horrifically bad but at least I'd want to watch Twins games in September, something that hasn't happened in two years.

And hey, how much worse can it get than what we've seen in the past three months?
I'd be all-in for what you propose. It fulfills two purposes, it would be fun and it would help to answer some more questions----

Correia and Diamond's ability to effectively pitch a full season?

and for H, W and A, where they fit in the equation going into the 2013-14 offseason?

And maybe throw May in there for a make-up game or DH spot start or 2 or 3.

One September I remember watching Kinney, Lohse, and Santana all audition back to back. I thought it was great. Wouldn't mind that type of thing again. I remember thinking Kinney would be great and Lohse pretty good. Wasn't sure about Santana.

I remember it well, and you're right......Who knew?

The more opportunities for that this year - the better. Rather than wait until next year.
The problem with Hendriks was (is) stuff. No amount of time in AAA can change that. Here is very much hoping that isn't a problem for Gibson.

We won't know until he pitches at this level....which is why the more time he has up here the better.

      This.

Hendriks is pretty much the poster boy for why you need your best prospects up to face the real thing and answering those lingering questions and then hopefully, solving the inevitable issues that pop up, sooner, rather than later.

Nobody is mentioning Deduno for the rotation on August 31?

I'm shocked. I think he's gonna be here awhile.
