  • Twins vs. Reds, 06/24/2012, 12:10pm

Coming off a disastrous 6-0 loss last night, both the Twins pitching and offense looks to get back on track behind their wins leader, Scott Diamond. Countering for the Reds is Mike Leake, a righty pitching in his third season with the club. Which Diamond will show up today for Minnesota? Will the offense break out of its slump and score more than twice? When do we get to stop watching Twins pitchers flail at baseballs like a little leaguer?

With Capps injured, Perkins would have been "unavailable" (yay for the save statistic). Outside of Perkins, Diamond was the best option against Votto.

Well that sucked. Twins offense let Diamond down today big time.

Hey, the guy's probably going to be the NL MVP. We just saw why.

Yeah, that swing brought back memories of pre-concussion Morneau. That was the first thing I thought when I saw it.

Flailing at a pitch low and away, looking like he made poor contact, and then the ball travels 300+ feet opposite field.

Yea--Diamond gets a complete game, but the Twins get a loss. I can't see them scoring off of Chapman.

Another nice play by Dozier -- now we need a run against the Reds' closer. Wife is pestering me to leave for Costco. I will be in big trouble if this goes to extra innings.

How would a Glavine comp for Diamond be? I think Glavine had a few more mph on his fastball and a little better stuff, but I don't think that would be a too far fetched goal for Diamond.

I have the distinct feeling that this half-inning is going to be cringe-worthy.

Why the **** is Doumit not hitting?

Because Mastrioanni was the (26th) best option Gardy had.

      So far so true.

Tom Glavine? Future hall of famer Tom Glavine?

Diamond threw only 82 pitches in 8 innings today -- pretty impressive.

I'm not trying to say Diamond will have a career path similar to his, but his pitching style and make-up are pretty similar (I think). I used to watch braves games when I was young and Glavine was in his prime. Maybe I'm wrong, but for some reason Diamond makes me think of Glavine.
