Well, it happened. The Twins winning streak was ended last night by a another strong pitching performance from Justin Verlander. Defeated 5-1, the Twins look to take three of four in Detroit against Tiger lefty Rick Porcello. To count, the Twins send Scott Diamond to the mound.

If the Twins can win a four game set in Detroit, they'd have to be pretty pleased with themselves. The Tigers were the pre-season favorites to win the division and the the middle of their offense looks terrifying. What do you expect from Diamond tonight? If the Twins win, are they "back in this thing"?

Roy Smalley is harping about Plouffe going after high fastballs. He is absolutely right!

Yup. Ploufey seems to me to have a good eye inside/outside, but struggles with up/down. Still and all, as of today he has a higher ISO than Spansie.

I wouldn't be surprised if all they get is three runs. This has been one wierd game.

Dozier is 3 for 3 so far today...looks like Gardy's office visit hit home with him.

I agree- too good an athlete, but that inability to tag out Mastro was Biggest Loser-chuckle-worthy champ if not for Fielder's missed tag(s) at first.

Extra base hit...what the hell is that.

Can they do that, is it legal?

This game is getting too close -- Twins need to get to the Tigers' relievers.

Was just coming on to say exactly this. I know it's not over by a long shot, but I would say it's already a candidate for the season's leader for "weird" moments.

I've really enjoyed what Roy has brought to the booth this year. Very clearly a guy who, at the very least, has spent a LOT of time thinking about and studying the game (and hitting in particular).

I wonder how Smalley would do on the radio. Couldn't be any worse than Gladden.

He wouldn't get to show off that hair though.

DeMuth's zone seems to have gotten bigger. Third guy tagged out at home.
