  • Twins vs White Sox, 07-23-2012, 7:10pm

Over the weekend, the Twins managed to take two of three from the Royals and now sit just one-half game back of Kansas City for fourth place in the AL Central. The Twins look to continue building on that momentum in what might be Francisco Liriano's last start in a Twins uniform. Tonight, he goes against right-hander Gavin Floyd in US Cellular Field.

Liriano has been a monster for the Twins over the past two months, posting a 2.84 ERA while striking out well over 10 batters per nine innings. The Twins haven't seen this kind of performance from the lefty since he dominated hitters early in his 2010 campaign.

Losing Francisco will certainly hurt the team in the short-term but in the long-term, it could drastically improve their chances at contending. It's all in Ryan's court at this point; all we can do is sit and wait it out. Join the discussion below and let us know what you expect from Francisco and the Twins tonight against the hated White Sox!

Only 2 more to tie the record.

If my research is right, 7 DP's has only been "accomplished" twice in a 9 inning game.

How depressing is it that the main focus for the rest of the game is whether or not the Twins will set a record for futility?

Dozier obviously isn't buying into the DP experience.

      0-11 RISP. That'll do it.

Okay this is what they should've done after Frankie came out of the game. With Frankie done Butera's game was also done

The team record is still fair game.

Nice job by the Twins' bullpen tonight. It seems they do a pretty good job of holding down the fort whenever a starter gets knocked out early.

Sox scored all their runs on three muti-run homers. Twins had all kinds of runners on base and hit a homer--with no one on base--and they went 0-14 with RISP, while hitting into five GDPs. That combination isn't going to win many games. Obviously, Drew doesn't guarantee "good Frankie" any more than Mauer or Doumit guarantees "bad Frankie".
