    The Twins lost a game on a late homer last night. After receiving what was easily Nick Blackburn's best start of the year, Gardenhire opted to put Jeff Gray in for the ninth, leaving Glen Perkins on the bench. AJ Pierzynski homered and that was all for the Twins.

    This afternoon, the Twins send out their best pitcher in Scott Diamond to take on the rejuvenated Jake Peavy for the Sox in the rubber match of the series. After moving no one on trade deadline day, the Twins look to close out the season on a strong note, having gone 34-33 since May 16th of this year. If the roster stays intact through the waiver deadline, how many wins can the Twins achieve this season? Join the Twins Daily game discussion and let us know what you think!

      Man, last nights loss still stings, wish we were going for the sweep today.

      No Revere for the 2nd day in a row?

      Injury delay. Was that to Diamond? That would not be good....

      Jared Burton can only pitch 4 pitches? And we wonder why the bullpen is overused.

      I hate losing to the White Sox more than any other team, and I hate the fact that they now have 3 former Twins stars who are playing well for them.

      The Twins seem to just not be able to get any clutch hits this season.

      I would say Diamond is the most pleasant surprise of the year. I would never had predicted this kind of season.

      Yeah, who would have thought that this would happen? He has pitched like an All-Star since being recalled from Rochester. Hopefully he can continue to pitch this way for a long, long time. I would hate to see him become the 2nd coming of Allan Anderson. Even though we are in the midst of a very bad season, there are still some good reasons to watch the games

      In no particular order;

      a. Willingham's quest for 40HR's

      b. Plouffe coming back from the DL and maybe challenging the 30HR mark

      c. Mauer pushing for another Batting Title (if Trout falters down the stretch)

      d. Diamond's Starts

      The losses do take their toll though... especially to the White Sox.
