• Twins vs Red Sox, 08-03-2012, 6:10pm

Sam Deduno was effectively wild again last night, holding the Red Sox to only two hits in six innings as the Twins rolled over the Red Sox 5-0. Don't look now but the Twins pitching has slowly started to look respectable. Since the All-Star break, the Twins have posted a 4.65 ERA, good for 21st in baseball and 8th in the American League. Certainly not something you're going to brag about back home but it's several notches better than the season-long 29th place position they're been sitting in for most of the season.

Tonight, the Twins turn to Brian Duensing for another spot start. Against him goes Felix Doubront, a young lefty for the Sox. What to expect from Duensing? He had a great outing against the White Sox in a spot start for the traded Liriano but prior to that, he struggling quite a bit. It will be interesting to see how the Sox counter Duensing's ability to get out lefty batters. Join the Twins Daily discussion and let us know what you think!

Padilla just threw a pitch that the tracker called "eephus" and was only 52 MPH; gotta wonder how you don't hit that 6 miles in the Bigs.

And they win it. Wow. They are one win away from winning a series against an AL-East team. Wonder when the last time that happened was?
