In 2007 the Twins had pitching problems. They brought in Sidney Ponson to fix the problem, but Sidney didn't bring any nasty pitches, just a nasty muleet.
Two days prior to his release La Velle E. Neal III, affectionaly known as LEN3 to serious Twins fans, reached out to then bullpen coach Rick Stelmaszek for some information about Sidney Ponson's current pitching problems.
"He is short, single and has a mullet. Why would such a guy need a makeover you ask? Hmmmm... That is a very tough question to answer. Maybe Sidney doesn't need a makeover, but some minor changes to his trendy and stylish habits. Mullets are still going strong in the South and places like St. Louis or the Carolinas, but we're key on busting mullet right now."
-Rick Stelmaszek, 16 May 2007Shortly after being designated for assignment by the Twins (2-5, 6.03 ERA in 37.2IP), a considerably less hairly Sidney Ponson was seen making passes at young women throughout the Southern US for most of the next year while he looked for work before catching on with the Texas Rangers.
