About Don't Feed the Greed Guy
I was the guy who protested outside the Metrodome on Opening Day, 1995, the year after the infamous strike--for mor info, see the archived article & picture in the Star Tribune, April 28, 1995 "Twins homecoming: belated, emotional, victorious" by Dan Barreiro

I love baseball as theater--comedy (Nishioka) and tragedy (Puckett). So, yeah, I've come back to the game, and love going to see The Boys of Summer play, with my two boys--ages 7 & 9. When I get frustrated with the business of baseball, now I can go in the backyard and play catch. Life is good. Paradise, according to Genesis, is still "a green, walled garden, or park."

Grouse hunting, camping with my family, and trolling for walleyes with the game on the radio.

"Knuckleball!" and R.A Dickey

by Don't Feed the Greed Guy on 04-17-2014 at 04:26 PM

It was a coincidence that "Knuckleballs!" arrived from Netflix at about the same time that R.A. Dickey started against the Twins. I watched the first half of the documentary by Rickie Stern and Annie Sundberg last night, and finished up after the Twins victory this afternoon.

What a great movie! This is a must-see for all seamheads out there. "Knuckleball!" documents

Twins Fest: One Family's Review

by Don't Feed the Greed Guy on 01-26-2014 at 07:55 AM
We purchased tickets to Friday night's Twins Fest as a way to celebrate my Dad's 83rd birthday. Grandpa was accompanied by his two grandsons, ages 10 and 8, my wife and I.

We parked in Lot B, and had only a short walk to Gate 6, where a host of ticket-takers greeted us as if we were walking up to a game. Once inside the gates, we peered out onto a snow-covered Target Field.

It was quite a contrast to the green grass of Opening Day, and the

Moneyball, the 2014 Draft, and the Future of Twins Pitching

by Don't Feed the Greed Guy on 10-30-2013 at 04:39 PM

The Twins need top-notch starting pitchers if they are to compete in the latter half of this decade. Last year, Twins starters paced all starting staffs with a 5.26 ERA, while taking the loss in whopping, major league-topping 74 games. So, something has to change. But how?

The most effective way to bolster starting pitching, long-term, is through the draft. Drafted players have greater longevity, and they come cheaper than buying developed

Consecutive Scoreless Innings to Start a MLB Career?

by Don't Feed the Greed Guy on 08-13-2013 at 06:41 PM
Hey all,

Just in case you start counting Andrew Alber's scoreless inning streak, the record for consecutive scoreless innings to start a major league career is 39. Brad Ziegler posted that number for the Oakland Athletics from May 31 to August 14 of 2008. I think Caleb Thielbar went 20 innings without giving up a run to start his career. Thielbar did set the record for consecutive scoreless appearances as a Twin. Albers is currently at 17.1 scoreless innings.

Any idea of

Nicky Punto and Danny DeVito celebrate Punto's second homerun of the year, as the diminutive DeVito was sporting Punto's #7 jersey. Awesome!! It seems Punto is finally getting some Hollywood cred after being thrown under the MTC here in Minnie! (click on the post-game interview)
