Anyone want him back? I'm betting we see him in Houston
The Twins are overflowing with DHs and OFs. Why on earth would anyone want Delmon back?
He was clutch for the Tigers in the postseason, so I would guess that they may try to keep him. On the other hand, I don't see the Twins even considering him, because he was not clutch for them.
Nooo! Delmon has had two good postseasons but he was awful (perhaps too strong) during the regular season. Hard to believe that somebody hitting behind Miggy and Prince couldn't drive in 80 runs in 600 PAs.
Absolutely no reason to sign him. I'd guess he goes to Houston. Good luck....*cough*
Is that Good Luck to delmon or to the Astros?
I love these comic threads... I got a great laugh just reading the first post.
.......
Is that really a serious question?
Good God no (that's a serious answer).
Yeah - Houston actually is not a bad fit for Delmon. Even if they are put in the unfortunate situation of having to play him in the field, Left field in Houston is pretty small. But since they don't have a DH yet, Delmon is about as good an option as any of the guys that have been rumored to be on the Astros radar (guys like Keppinger, Ty Wigginton, Luke Scott, Mark Reynolds), the difference being that he would be an outfielder rather than a corner infielder.
If the Twins are going after former Twins to sign, the guys worth looking at would be Scott Baker (Who they are talking to already), maybe Frankie, and Maaaaaaaybe Kyle Lohse, though I doubt there's interest from either side.
Absolutely not - once was enough. Houston is probably a good bet - they are looking for a DH with the move to the American League.
I think you nailed it with Houston. It sounds like Detroit doesn't want him back since they will have Victor Martinez back at the DH spot.
I'm going to just assume that that the original post asking if the Twins should be interested was a joke.
I don't see Delmon as a fit for the Twins. OF is the one area where the organization has some depth and they need to keep the DH spot open to get Mourneau/Parmelee/Mauer/Doumit at bats. Any money spent on Delmon is less that can be spent on pitching.
Delmon would be a great fit with any other team in our division. You do realize that ALCS aside, Delmon Young had an atrocious year. How bad do you have to be defensively to be forced to DH on that team?
