curring favor with the next commisioner
terry ryan has been the general manager or senior advisor for 18 + seasons
and i claim has made only 1 lucky trade, some have pointed out 2-5 trades
curly has made, but if you can count on 1 hand the number of good trades a gm
has made in 18 years, then maybe its time to hire a senior advisor for him...
andy Macphail has tie to the twins was here for the 1987 championship ,
and i think he would be very useful in balancing ryans inepititude in making
good trades and could also help in the the 2 drafts coming up ...
and your opinons?

Name a bad trade Ryan made outside of the Lohse deal, which was more "meh" than "bad" because Lohse was falling apart when he was moved. The one glaring mistake he made during his first tenure was letting Ortiz walk.
Yet we need someone to balance his "ineptitude" and you recommend a guy who has been a spectacular failure for ~20 years since leaving the Twins.

How many advisers will we need to hire to make up for Macphail's ineptitude?
Seriously, running a team the way the Cubs and O's were run the last 20 years is what we want advice on?

Let's not completely bash MacPhail. He must have had a little bit to do with the Orioles' turnaround. They did draft Machado and Bundy under his watch. I read an article somewhere recently about him. The interviewer was giving him some credit for the Orioles turnaround. Of course he was gracious about it but in the same vein said he was probably given more credit for the Twins' success than he deserved since much of the work in developing those teams was done before he arrived.
