Twins sign Antoan Richardson to Minor League contract

According to this guy anyway: Poor man's Ben Revere: Twins sign OF Antoan Richardson - Sporting Sota - A Minnesota Sports Site - Vikings, Twins, Grizzlies, Wild, and Golden Gophers

Seems to have no problem drawing walks or stealing bases. Anyone know what Richardson's deal is?

Wow, and even smaller than Revere.

There was another thread on this signing (and the Bernier signing as well), but Richardson is similar to Revere but obviously not as good. He played in the Northern League, and he represented Britain in the WBC Qualifiers. As I said in the other thread, my guess is both of these guys are AA depth, but you never know.

29 and has 80 ab's above AA. Probably a late bloomer

The guy is an OBP and SB machine. Does he have trouble catching fly balls? I am intrigued.

Are you joking? As a 27 and 28 year old playing AA he has posted some great on base numbers while striking out an avg of 17% of the time. So playing against guys he was 4-5 years older then he was a useful player. This is not surprising or hard to do.

He has a lifetime OPS of 1.000 in the majors, and also has never committed an error. So I am also intrigued to see if he can keep it up.

I have watched him throughout his professional career. Great bunter with outstanding speed. Smart baserunner. Strikeouts are a problem. Good defender and average arm.

That and a high OBP, I guess those reports from Seth about resembling Revere need some revision...
