    Bollinger: Plouffe batting sore calf

But the injury is minor, and he's only being held out for precautionary reasons. He's yet to participate in any of the infield drills and hasn't been running, either.
    Sigh.

The title of this article can be read in two ways and I prefer one a lot more than the other.

I predict he won't play until May 20th where we finally put him on the DL for 5 days and he returns shortly after.

    I hope it's not a pesky wart.

He should be batting baseballs instead of his calf. No wonder it is sore

This is not a great start for Plouffe, but I am going to remain optimistic that he will have a breakout year.

When he is on a hot streak, Plouffe can hit at an elite level. It seems to me that the key will be for him to stay hot for longer periods of time, and stay healthy. Like Liriano, Plouffe has raw talent. I am hoping that this year Plouffe will finally become consistent. It could happen.

They always say that 9 underachieving seasons leads to a breakout 10th.

I'm glad you added the image. It's now ridiculous enough to have made me snort air out of nose at a slightly higher pressure than normal.

On a serious note, I hope he's alright and it really is just precautionary.

Plouffe is scheduled to come back on Tuesday. He though it was going to be today (Sunday) but he wasn't in any of the lineups, which led to this great quote:

"I feel like a dog that's been told we're going for a walk, and then everyone leaves," Plouffe said. "I'm in here ripping the couch to shreds."

The calf looks fine to me. We should be all set.

Plouffe played today, going 1-2 with an RBI. He played four innings at 3B, though he didn't get any opportunities. He doesn't sound too bitter about waiting a couple of extra days now that he's back:

"I feel good," Plouffe said. "Everything was full-go, just like we expected. Two extra days isn't such a big deal anymore to me now that I'm back. I'm happy we waited."
