No surprise here, but the timing seems a bit odd.
Note that he got the dreaded vote of confidence a few weeks ago.

Lets see how long will take the Twins to follow suit
Yes, very odd. Maybe he wanted to go on a hunting/fishing trip this weekend and pushed the envelope.
Stability>Instability. I'd rather watch a franchise that holds on to its front office and management for a little too long than one that fires guys seemingly at random.
Cleveland is not a bad team because Manny Acta was the manager. Cleveland is a bad team because they have bad players.
I agree the timing is odd. Maybe there were other opportunities he wanted to pursue and asked management to speed up their decision.
A couple of weeks after the dreaded vote of confidence is about par for mgr. firings...but why not wait till end of season?? I like Manny, I think he did a good job here with the Nats (in the days before Harper, Strasberg and both Zimmermans). I hope he lands on his feet next spring.
Cleveland has been stable. Constantsuckage stable for a while. Same way the Twins have been the past couple seasons. I guess they do not like that stability so they try to find someone who can change that. And they were in the contention path for a while both of the 2 last seasons.
