Top 5 sandwiches:
1)Philly: Has to be authentic, and I am FIRMLY in the Cheese Whiz camp, while my wife is in the Provolone camp.
Once, I saw a commercial on TV with Arby's advertising a Philly...
LOL "is nishioka betting against the twins?"
Calling Florimon a "below average" hitter is being pretty generous.

Just because Sulbaran (or any prospect) may never pan out, doesn't mean they don't have value.
They are assets.
I guess I just don't see any reason to dump them at such a young age unless you are...
I think you are a little bit optimistic stringer.
I don't think he'll ever be an ace, though it depends on how you define it I guess. Certainly he could be our staff ace until/unless Meyer or...
Still the record holder IMO.

Thats why you can't trust the box score alone.
Florimon carried the team with his defense today.

Oh well, that one nit pick aside, it was a good win.

Assuming Nolasco has a good 8th, and is around 105 pitches, will Steiny have the guts to send him out to finish what he started?
My guess is Gardy has a sniper in the stands to prevent such a...

His defense more than makes up for his .241 OPS?

"Oh, the silent majesty of a winter's morn... the clean, cool chill of the holiday air... an ******* in his bathrobe, emptying a chemical toilet into my sewer..."
I think we can get it done if we're willing to throw in Duensing.

No, I don't disagree with any of that.
I just think people should be able to criticize certain aspects of his game without being burned at the stake, which is what is happening in this thread.

I don't think Mauer is nearly the most frequently criticized Twin.
04-10-2014, 08:52 PM
Yes, because people who find ONE thing to nitpick about Mauers game therefore think he's a terrible baseball player.
04-10-2014, 08:29 PM
Personally, I think Mauer could be an even better hitter than he already is if he went up there with the plan of swinging at the most hittable pitch he gets, regardless of which pitch it is.
04-09-2014, 08:51 PM
Well then I think you are taking it out of context.
It didn't seem to me he was using the "top 10" to rip Mauer, but to point out that he's not quite the doubles machine that cmat was suggesting,...

But not always. To assume that the poster he quoted is too stupid to know the difference between the PA's where he gets a couple good pitches but manages to coax a 7 or 8 pitch walk, and the obvious...
04-09-2014, 08:16 PM
Really? Then what does this mean?
You'd rather he swung at bad pitches in the hope that...he accidentally got a hit?
04-09-2014, 08:09 PM
It's almost as absurd as the idea that Mauer doesn't get a single hittable pitch in any of his plate appearances that result in a walk.
I don't think anyone is asking him to swing at a bad pitch...

I tend to fall into the Mauer "apologist" category, but here are a couple things that have really bothered me.
1) The way the whole bi lateral leg weakness bizarro injury was handled.
