At this point, almost anything is better than watching Pelfrey and Hernandez pitch batting practice (Worley is little better but I still hold out hope for him once his peripherals normalize).

I don't think it will poison anything with Gibson. I'm sure he has been told that he will be promoted in 2013 and that when he shows a bit more consistency from start to start, he'll be in Minnesota.
